image For my first ever review here in the Troma zone, I had planned on writing a review for what most people consider the greatest of all Troma movies, the Legendary Toxic Avenger. But in true Tromafreak fashion, I've decided to write about some random piece of shit that nobody cares about instead.

A terrible movie this is. Possibly the worst killer kid flick in existence. Out of all the so bad it's good Horrors of the 80's, the Troma Team always seems to go after shit like this. But sometimes, even shit like this can have redeeming qualities. Unfortunately, said qualities don't show up until the last scene. Continue »

Everybody loves Japanese Girls and Satanism. So putting them together into one movie seems like a great idea. Plenty of gore, witchcraft and lesbian sex scenes. But far less than the movie could have actually had.

This is pretty tame compared to Urotsukidoji: Legend of The Overfiend. But then again everything is.

Misa Kuroi, a very attractive Japanese witch indeed.

Apparently according to this movie Lucifer is a giant handsome blue Japanese man with white feathery angel wings. Most lik... Continue »

Because I mean hello, there has to be one at a place called trash epics. Troma made some SOV threads singling out a few particular movies, but I figured one big fat free-for-all post that either celebrates or lambasts this supremely niche sub-genre of bottom-feeding white trash horror deck would be appropriate.

I myself love these movies. I can't quite put my finger on why, since, in some cases, even on an entertainment level (we already know on a technical level this is about... Continue »

If you love John Jarratt in Wolf Creek, love monster movies, practical monster effects and love Australian horror movies then you might be interested in this one.

Good cast with Bill Moseley, Roger Ward, Nathan Jones and even Ernie Dingo.

No, that's not the name of the movie. The name is Thoroughbreds, but that poster says otherwise. I think it's funny when they make the taglines bigger than the title. They did that for Edge of Tomorrow, and people at the theater kept asking for "Live. Die. Repeat". Anyway, I digress. This is a movie also taglined as "Heathers meets American Psycho", which is kind of accurate.

Olivia Cooke plays our first lead character. She's emotionally challenged, but she's not a... Continue »

In memory of Don Rickles, I watched his "The Ventriloquist's Dummy" episode, directed by Richard Donner and starring Bobcat Goldthwait. This show was all about great guest stars and directors.

A few days before that, I watched Arnold's "The Switch" about the old man (William Hickey) who trades body parts with a young man (Rick Rossovich) to win his woman's heart.

Throughout seven seasons, they've had a ton of great episodes. Another of my favorites off the top of my head would be Walter Hill's "Cutting Cards" with Lance Henriksen and Kevin Tighe.

Here's a reference for you:

Is this the best horror anthology out there? I think the most notable competitor would be Tales from the Darkside, but I haven't seen many episodes of that series... YET!

Ten years ago, The Strangers got a lot of hype as being a truly creepy home invasion movie, inspired by the immortal classic known as Halloween. It has a decent reputation among horror fans, but personally? I hated it. I thought it was dull, and I didn't give two hoots about anyone in the film. I didn't care for the nihilistic and somewhat abrupt ending, and I didn't care for the directing. It was all about building tension, and somehow, the movie just didn't resonate with me at al... He's a weird guy, but he grows on you. Been watching the new Twin Peaks and rewatching the old show and movie, and I feel it's as relevant a time as ever.

Eraserhead (1977) - Trippy black and what tale of industrial living, mass production, and goddamn mutant babies filled with horrid puss! This movie is great to watch if you're baked out of your mind.

Blue Velvet (1986) - Kyle M, Laura Dern, and Dennis Hopper are great in this. It's kinda confusing the first dozen tim... Continue »

image I had bought the Mill Creek Chilling Classics 50 movie pack a few years ago and I had noticed that Messiah of Evil (1973) was included in it but for one reason or another I never wanted to watch it. Fast forward to last years October Challenge and I was running out options to watch - so I half-heartedly decided to watch it. Well, needless to say, I didn't regret it, and even tho the copy wasn't the best in the world - it didn't d... Continue »

https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3466469/rob-zombie-making-sequel-devils-rejects-exclusive/

This news just came to my attention, and I'm kind of torn. Part of me is asking, "How the hell are you going to revive the last three members of the Firefly family after we saw how that last movie ended?"

Then, another part of me is actually kind of excited for it. We'll say there's some magic Dr. Satan shit going on, but will it be worth it? Will it taint the legacy of Rob Zombie's best movie? Or will us fans rejoice regardless?

Chris Seaver is one of the many no-budget Horror directors that came out of the woodwork back in the 90's. A time when the SOV ship had since sailed. All that was left of this era was a few scraps for guys like Todd Sheets, guys like Tim Ritter, and guys like Chris Seaver. Unlike his peers, Seaver's beatings of the dead SOV horse was actually leading to something.

Here's to a week that everybody in school gets off, so I'm expecting a pretty busy week at work. We have some decent movies at the theater, so people might actually want to get out this week.

image I want to see The Strangers: Prey at Night, not because I liked the first one at all, but simply because it's white trash horror in a mainstream cinema. We had to have this standee removed because of a single complaint. emoticon... Continue »

image I just started watching Jean-Claude Van Johnson this afternoon. Two episodes in and I'm already hooked. In the show, Jean-Claude Van Damme portrays a fictional version of himself who's both an actor and a spy. Because he's egotistical and kind of a dumbass, he's not very good at either job, frequently screwing over himself and others.

I'm not the biggest Van Damme fan. As an action actor, h... Continue »

For the love of God, I don't know why I always forget that Eli Roth has a "Death Wish" remake due out this year, starring Bruce Willis as Paul Kersey! Now, we all know Bruce Willis is a bit of an asshole in real life, but we choose to overlook this because he's always bad-ass in the movies. I figure a Bruce/Roth combo can be great, so long as Bruce doesn't step on Eli Roth's toes. Kevin Smith worked with Bruce on "Cop Out" and said Bruce was a real diva, and he hated working with him.... Continue »

I already have my watchlist https://trashepics.com/post/1/366/ , but like most of you would already guess, the list is never-ending. You always find more shit to watch, and somehow, there are always more movies that you missed.

Some black & white titles I'm hoping to scout out this month:

The Night of the Hunter (1955) - in the TE top 100, at # 57
The Haunting (1963) - I feel like I might have watched this, but I don't remember anything about it.
The Innocent... Continue »

Completely off topic. How many interviews have been to in your lifetime and how do go at them? I've been to countless, probably about 30 plus. I'm really good at putting an application together but suck at the interview process. I think it's an Australian cultural thing to feel like a complete wanker when you talk yourself up so it doesn't come naturally and feels very forced.

I was interviewed recently and the one thing that does piss me off no end is when you get that vibe they've alrea... Continue »

I don't know about you, but I'm kind of losing it without other forums to use. emoticon The other imdb replacements aren't proving themselves to be very competent, or they're just dead. I need new stomping grounds. We need more trash addicts!

What forums do you lurk, and perhaps even post in? Are message boards like this fading away in favor of sites like Facebook with groups and whatnot?

Ugh... there's talk of this happening again. emoticon

Everyone has been reluctant to make this movie happen, because Brandon Lee did such a terrific job in the original, and it always falls through. I've heard about this happening on many occasions, with many directors and actors attached, and every version was scrapped.

Now there's talk of Jason Mamoa taking over the role, and I'll be honest... I don't like that guy. Hasn't impressed me once, in any of the shit he's been in, but they... Continue »

I just came back from seeing my favorite punky folky comedy rock band, The Dead Milkmen. Shortly after I got there I saw their singer Rodney Anonymous standing right in front of me. I shook his hand and had a brief chat about how much I love them. It was pretty amazing.

There was an odd mix of opening acts, all local. First was Mr. Kitty, who assume are named after Cartman's cat, a weird industrial electronic duo, not really my thing. Then came C... Continue »

With the opportunity of the challenge that's currently running i finally got the chance to check The Green Elephant (1999) and while it definitely qualifies as an "extreme" piece i thought that Uwe Boll's (as strange as it sounds) Stoic (2009) was more disturbing.

Any more recommendations?
