So I was watching Jeremy Saulnier's "Green Room" the other day. Damn, what a great fuckin' movie... I've seen it several times, and I really love it. Probably my favorite movie of 2015 (even though I think it came out theatrically in 2016?). The acting, the story, the gore, and it all packs one hell of a punch.

It's a survival movie where a band of misfits are being framed and must fight for survival. Much like "The Warriors", only violent as fuck. That's a genre I like, where the protagonist... Continue »

I don't really like those movies too much. I figure Zombie 4 After Death might be a bit underrated, but I hated 3 and Killing Birds, and am not overly fond of the shark vs. zombie one, but I recently came across a list of what's supposedly the complete Zombi(e) series, and what I found was pretty surprising. So, yeah. I didn't write this.

1. Dawn Of The Dead (1978) - "Dario Argento was an admirer of George A. Romero's work, and vica versa. When Argento heard that Romero was contemplati... Continue »

Like the Zombi series, most of these were retitled and actually have nothing to do with eachother.

1. Demons AKA Dรจmoni (1985)

2. Demons 2 AKA Dรจmoni 2 (1986)

3. The Ogre AKA La Casa Dell'orco AKA Demons 3: The Ogre (1988)

4. The Church AKA La Chiese AKA Demons 3 (1989)

5. Black Demons AKA Dรจmoni 3 AKA Demons 3 (1991)

6. The Devil's Daughter AKA La Setta AKA Demons ... Continue »

[b]It's finally here! The Documentary Challenge is happening on Trash Epics and it's happening in June. So, get ready to learn something.

I'm going to go with the original rules set by challenge founder, AlcoholicNinja. Or at least what I can remember.

Any Documentary is worth 1 point.

A Documentary containing dark subject matter is worth 2 points

A Documentary about anything... Continue »

We all know how crooked Hollywood is, especially with the Weinstein scandal going on now, but those liberal fucktardsyahoos are making laws that'll really make you scratch your head. A few days ago, they announced that they'll arrest you if you call a transgendered person by the wrong pronoun, and now... if you knowingly have AIDS and fuck someone and give them AIDS... it's a slap on the wrist (as opposed to the previous 8 year prison sentence).

Apparently, Ben Afflec... Continue »

Back in 1999, I doubt anyone would have considered the possibility of a WCW movie to be a bad idea. After temporarily dethroning the WWF as the top Wrestling organization, 1999 was extremely unkind to WCW, as their approach to the Monday Night War only served to tap them out creatively and nearly financially as well. A recently red hot WCW had become old news seemingly over night, while the WWF was experiencing an explosion in popularity like no oth... Continue »

You guys, this has nothing to do with anything, I just think it's interesting. If you click on this page, look at the little cluster of republics numbered 13, 21, 12, 16, 18, 3, roughly located in the left half of the map. That area is northish of the Caspian Sea in the real world.

All those "republics" (totally surrounded, dominated, run, owned, oppressed, etc by Russia) are almost like a whole other Europe, which is never in the news. Is... Continue »

Here's another Blumhouse movie. They're the lead distributors of mainstream horror/exploitation these days, and sometimes, they do all right. Upgrade stars Logan Marshall Green in an actual starring role. This guy usually plays bit parts like in Prometheus and Spiderman Homecoming, but they finally gave him more to work with, and he nails it.

He plays a quadriplegic who gets "upgraded" with a spinal chip as he searches for his wife's killer, and the rest is just cool fight scenes as he does h... Continue »

I'm talking about the 1989 Canadian piece of trash known as "Things". I watched the commentary, looking for insight, and here's what I can say about that...

The commentary is labeled as having director Andrew Jordan and star Barry J. Gillis. When the movie starts, you can tell that there are a lot more people there. It's like a party, and they seem quick to get to drinking.

There's a lady on the track that never saw the movie at the time of the recording, and she just kinda rags on the mov... Continue »

This is my easiest way of earning points for the June challenge. While everyone else will be on summer vacation, we'll all be learning for the month, but I'm fine with that. I've still got a lot of dvds of my favorite horror movies, and I've probably forgotten most every commentary I've listened to at this point, so they're all fresh for a revisit.

What are some good audio commentary tracks on dvds? Hopefully, I might have one of these discs so I can listen. I think I need to start the challe... Continue »

I'm really into period piece movies right now. Anyone have any recs? Doesn't have to specifically be horror. Thriller and drama would be good also.

Hard person to work out
He's made a couple of decent films, and a few average films (so hes not completely incompetent)
but most are just plain crap. Watched one last night https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209458/ Vampire Blues (1999)
The closest film to it is 'Hip Hop Locos(*)' It is impossible to make a film this bad unless
A/ you do it on purpose
B/ you're an imbecile

So what is it, is he just taking the piss, or did he just hit his head back in the 60s?

Should we go with the original HB rules I already got listed or the new TE rules with a point a minute? I'm undecided and we got long enough to before it begins to tweak some shit. We'll see what everyone thinks after 24 hours and then I'll make the progress thread.

Rather than only watching motherly movies on Mother's Day, why not watch them for the rest of the week too? That's the idea of the Mother's Week Challenge. You can watch any movie from any genre featuring any kind of mother. She could be a badass like Sarah Connor or a nutcase like Pamela Voorhees.

The challenge begins on Sunday, May 13th and ends on Saturday, May 19th. Make your spot here.

image Sunday, May 13th is Mother's Day. It'll also mark the beginning of the Mother's Week Challenge.

The idea behind this challenge is simple: to honor mothers for a whole week instead of one day. All types of mothers count, from any genre.

You can take 1 point for each instance of the following:

Title Point - The word "Mother", "Mom", or another variation is in the title... Continue »

In honor of the good old Mother's week challenge, I couldn't watch the "original" without watching the "remake". Not really a remake at all, but Goddamn if Lloyd Kaufman's face didn't appear in the movie anyway.

The performances in this sort of movie are what it's all about. We have some decent actors here, like Frank Grillo, Shawn Ashmore, Jaime King, among our lead antagonist, played by Rebecca DeMornay. She tries to play friendly, but turns nasty pretty quick. I'm sure she had fun with thi... Continue »

Directed by Lloyd Kaufman's brother Charlie, Mother's Day is a story about three college girls who head off for a fun mini-vacation, and they end up at the mercy of a crazy backwoods mother and her moronic, violent grown sons.

It really isn't a bad movie. It came out before Troma got big with Toxic Avenger in '84, but it still had a lot of Troma qualities. It wasn't as goofy as a Lloyd-directed film though. It took itself more seriously, and that's not a bad thing. It had a few decent gore sc... Continue »

ok if enough people are interested this could be fun and maybe hopefully stimulate some TE activity, which i for one have been guilty of neglecting recently.

stole this from someone else, basically everyone involved chooses a film for someone else to watch within a timescale. who recs whom is decided randomly by a free online 'wheel of choice*' app (or something, i dont dallt the kids these days) ideally a film that person hasnt seen before, but you think theyd like. you can check here on T... Buzzard is dark drama/comedy character study. It's not a horror film by any means, but I believe it would be of great interest to many horror fans. Our main guy Marty is a dickhead slacker, and possible sociopath, who scams his way through life. When some of his scams start to catch up with him he has to take off into the city with nothing but the clothes on his back and his homemade Freddy Krueger Nintendo Power Glove.... Continue »

So there I am, grabbing the news feeds from wherever it is that I get them, and then I see it. In the title of one of the feed articles, I see I goddamn balloon. A colorful balloon is NOT a letter! Or a number! Or a textual symbol! How these things caught on it beyond me, but I think they're fucking dumb.

How do you even type emojis, without using some sort of special character submenu? I see this in the shoutbox sometimes, too. Actual images, which surely aren't text.

I think this is one... Continue »

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but what exactly qualifies a movie to be considered a B movie? Is it if it's just bad? Or does it need to have a very low budget? Can a B movie ever have a large budget? Can it be a mainstream movie?

I know The Room has a reported budget of 6 million and it's now launched into cult status, so is it still a B movie?
