Any fans of the Rocky series? It's been going on for 42 years now, and these movies still suck me in.

Michael B. Jordan has been doing a great job as Rocky's protege, and even though these movies don't have everything a Rocky movie had, like Paulie or Adrian, they still have Rocky Balboa himself, and they still feel like Rocky movies. Stallone is there to anchor it, but Jordan has a lot of meat to his role, and it's a perfect balance, really.

Like the previous 'Creed' movie, Rocky IV has... Continue »

1.

Watched somewhat effective but ultimately slightly average Japanese hospital horror Infection (2004). A perfect setting for horror, places of safety, healing and restoration turned to their opposite, by accident or design, against the vulnerable and trusting. Infection begins well, set in the dark, run down Central Hospital, with an absent director and what few staff it still has overworked and underpaid. It has a queasy, tense atmosphere, a feeling that something simply has to give, and g... Continue »

I know, it's not the best movie in the franchise, but I like it. Any other fans here??

I don't know where to talk about it, without the IMDB message boards. Anyway, I like a bunch of things about it. I usually like Jeremy Renner in whatever he's in. I thought 28 Weeks Later was.. almost excellent. I had a few problems with it, but Jeremy R did his job. He was also really freaky in Dahmer.

I liked the way they portrayed Manila, in the second half of the movie. I felt like I got a fai... Continue »

Saw on Markus' thread that some people are after suggestions for some foreign language goodness.

Put together this list on Letterboxd which hopefully helps, mainly horror movies with some dark/disturbing/violent/depressing ones that i think are worth a watch. & a few horror titles which aren't necessarily 'good' films but fun to watch.

Back in 2012, Chris Seaver made not one, but two movies about Inbred Rednecks. They're basically the same movie, in terms of story and ending. They're both about evil rednecks who possess/infect regular people into being rednecks, and they're both defeated by something racist. In Evil Dead Inbred Rednecks, Michael Jackson saves the day with his fresh beats, and in Close Encounters, some white guy turns into Bruce Lee or something and kills everybody. They nearly have the same cast, too, a... Continue »

Amazon Prime has a bunch of Chris Seaver movies, so I gave this one a watch. However, they list it as 2016 and a 4.8, when it's 2014 at a 4.7. What's up with their differences? It's the same damn company.

This movie is slightly more professional than your average Seaver movie, and has a bit of John Waters flare to it, IMO. The characters aren't as dumb, but they're still sex-crazed idiots. The legendary Josh Suire plays a stupid fucking nerd who needs some good old fashioned revenge after a p... Continue »

I recently watched a documentary on YouTube discussing sleep paralysis. It's pretty creepy how so many people from different parts of the world tend to see the same things.

My grandmother told me about a time when she had it happen to her. She claimed that when she woke up, unable to move, that she saw an old woman crawling back and forth just outside her bedroom door. She was a treasure trove of scary stories. I miss her.

Anyway, I've never experienced sleep paralysis myself, but the morb... Continue »

I finally finished the latest season of one of Netflix's best shows. I know a bunch of you aren't fans of superhero shit, and I'm not nearly as big on them as I used to be, which is why this show is wonderful. It's comic-book mythology put into gritty crime dramas, for adults.

The last time we saw DareDevil was in The Defenders, which kind of sucked. Matt Murdoc is trying to get his groove back after being defeated in the aforementioned show, and Wilson fucking Fisk is out of jail. Vincent D'... Continue »

Deep Red popped up on Shudder and despite never really being wowed by the film, I decided to give it another shot. People really can change. I loved it!

So with that said...I was thinking....what giallo should I try next? Keep in mind I've seen a few before but many, many years ago so nearly anything would be watched with a fresh set of eyes. Rec me the best of the best, please. Not just some pretty cool-ish obscurity you wanna throw out, since I'm still skeptical this genre is... Continue »

The dude invented Marvel Comics, and these characters are ingrained onto the minds of every youth in America. Probably even the world. Back in the 60s, he drew a pictures, wrote a few storylines, and a major empire became of it. Granted, it didn't take off as quickly as all that, because comics were still considered child's play for many years, until it started to invade motion pictures and the world of television.

They made a few pieces of shit back in the 70s to 90s, and nobody could... Continue »

Last month, "Death Kiss" became available for viewing, starring Robert Bronzi Kovacs as Charles Bronson. Yeah, that's right. The guy is basically playing Paul Kersey from the Death Wish movies, and since we're never given a name for this character, it works all the way.

The movie strives to recreate the settings and feels of the original movies, but I'll be damned... this movie is shot in some decent high-definition video. I don't imagine this movie had a great big budget, but they had nice c... Continue »

I've always liked Swamp Thing. Ever since I was a kid, I watched the absolute hell out of my "The Return of Swamp Thing" vhs, and I had action figures and everything. In retrospect, I kind of like the Wes Craven original more, but while the Manfredini score of the original is great, you just can't beat the start of the second movie, which plays "Born on the Bayou".

So yeah, I like both movies, even though part 2 is super cheesy. I think a lot of my love for that movie is from no... Continue »

I killed a baby today. And it doesn't matter much to me, as long as it's dead.

Bit overrated, no?

Been seeing this 'un pimped out for a good 10 years now all the way back to that ancient place they call "imdb." Well, I finally caught up with it....

Pretty good, but not the masterpiece I expected and genuinely much funnier than I anticipated as well. I get that this was based on a true story or whatever (is it really?) and it's intended to be "realistic" and stuff, but did the killer have to be so pathetic? Jesus Christ he's lucky he stumbled into the house he... Continue »

Well, that was the lousiest October Challenge I've ever experienced. Wasn't in to it at all. I had planned on watching a bunch of TV movies and some Hammer films but got stuck on micro-budget 2010's Slashers I found on Amazon Prime. Nothing else was doing it for me for some reason. I hope everyone else was able to get into the October spirit. Nice turn out this year. And congratulations to Ballz on gaining the top spot.

Holy hell, what a hilarious piece of trash! A true turkey, if there ever was one!

youtube

The Amazing Bulk is an "Incredible Hulk" '08 rip-off filmed entirely in front of a green screen, featuring animated sets and crude models, used redundantly. The actors keep a straight face while they're doing this drivel, and that's always a huge plus. It's awful to see actors who are intentionally bad, because they know they're in a piece of shit. It's wonderful wh... Continue »

[b]Here we go! Another October Challenge. Second one for Trash Epics, so, we must be doing something right.

So, the rules are: 31 Horror films must be watched during the 31 days of October. 16 of which must be first time viewings. Watch all you want. I sure as hell am, but to count in the end, it's gotta at least be 31 and 16.

This challenge will begin as soon as... Continue »

I know some people here must have seen this already, but for anyone who hasn't... check it out! Someone tracked down Sandy Johnson. She sounds like a really nice lady. Also, it sounds like things have worked out for her pretty well, after a rocky start. I'm sorry about all the @#$$%^&^$#@!ing pop up ads... #$%$%^&%$#@!ing Dread Central.

So I finished my October challenge with barely 31 movies, but I fucking did it, and you can't argue with that! I beat the challenge with Toxic Avenger, but I also started wondering if the Toxic Avenger even counts, but IMDb lists it as horror, so I guess it does. But just to make sure nobody would combat my argument, I watched Hereditary again, just to make my victory solid.

I saw this movie a few months ago in theaters, and it stuck with me something fierce. It's a slow-burn movie in the sam... Continue »

I wish there were a channel that was just constant Ash vs Evil Dead reruns, with occasional showings of any of the Evil Dead movies, interspersed with reasonably decent fan videos based on the Evil Dead mythology. I would watch that every day.

By the way, I have said this next thing before, and I'm sticking to it: there should also be a Bigfoot channel. All Bigfoot. All the time.

Tam Lin (Blu-ray)

Also just ordered Five Miles to Midnight on Blu-ray.

There, I just finished my FTV portion of the challenge. Yeah, I know I'm way behind some of you, but these days, my mind wanders too much for me to get these damn movies watched. Now, I only need 3 re-watches to get 'er done.

So Amicus was a pretty big deal, apparently, huh? I'll admit, I don't know much about these movies. I suppose that, being Britain-based, they're a lot like Hammer movies. However, I notice they put out their fair amount of anthology movies, too. And like Hammer, they f... Continue »
