This was back in 1990, when the tv/miniseries era of Stephen King's works started taking off. I'd presume that's because his books were so long. I know his story for "IT" is some 1000 pages, so that couldn't all fit into just one movie. Not back then, and not today, either, apparently. Certain popular franchises can secure lengthy runtimes, but the 90s preferred the form of the miniseries.

IT: Chapter Two will be out soon. People are going to get their "IT" on, but which "IT" is worth... Continue »

This was my 8th consecutive year attending DFW's annual horror con. Each year, I try to meet a few more horror icons who have blown my mind in classic horror flicks that are now considered staple horror franchises. I've met a lot of my heroes. People I've only seen on screen for years and years of my life. People I'd never dreamed I would actually shake hands with. That's what these conventions are for. They blur the line between reality and fiction in the same kind of way that Halloween blurs t... Continue »

You know what I mean. What horror movies come to mind for you, as being suitable to be adapted into Dungeons and Dragons-type RPG games?

I had this idea because I was thinking about Silent Hill. I realize, that movie got started as a video game. So I was thinking it over, and I thought "you know, that would also work pretty well as a D+D-ish game," because it is basically a fairly contained quest, in a particular setting, where you have to face lots of different kinds of monsters. If you... Continue »

@owl got me to tag along with her to an event in Dallas in which Nicholas Brendan of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fame was holding a gathering of sorts to hang out with his fans. He does these things pretty regularly, and this one was at some random-ass house of only about 20 people. Mostly 30+ year old female Buffy fans who have watched the show too many times...

Owl's met him before at a few of these things, because she's a Buffy n... Continue »

Just rewatched this and was once again struck by how amazing Patricia Arquette's tits are. Constantly squeezed into too-tight bras and jiggling with every movement she makes. I'm a huge fan of the boob jiggle. There was this Mexican restaurant near my place where I used to live a couple years ago, and the bar chick, although not especially hot, was always bursting out of her bra and showing plenty of top-boob and they would jiggle like crazy every time she popped the top off a beer bottle. Needl... Continue »

So I just watched Jaws, and I didn't particularly like it. The story developed rather slowly and I didn't find myself liking to many of the characters. It wasn't bad, but I really think the movie could have been told in 85 minutes, and may have benifitted from it. The long, silence filled scenes on the water were meant to create this feeling of overwhelming nothingness and being at the mearcing of the ocean, but for me it just kinda put me to sleep.

It's time once again for the Black & White Challenge. The seventh annual Black & White Challenge apparently.

I see no need to add to or otherwise change the rules. You get one point for every minute watched. As long as it's B&W, it counts. It can be a movie, TV show, short, or whatever of any genre. Tinted films are allowed. Partial color films are also allowed as long as there's more B&... Continue »

Been a while since I saw this one so I figured it was time for a revisit.

I liked it. While i prefer the horror comedy tone of the first two films, this was pretty good, gory, dark stuff. I got kind of a Hellraiser vibe from it too with the BDSM fetish thing the chick did in order to suppress her undead hunger. As I said it's gory, and this had to have been the uncut version cuz some of this was downright brutal as fuck. The zombies this time around, particularly the ones that come outta the... Sorry, Box, I understand if you have to take this down immediately for some legal reason.

I just want to make some fake Fletch IDs as a joke, to take to 80s Night at a pub near me. It can be very, very obvious that they are fake. I just want them to be realistic and unpathetic enough that they get a second glance, and maybe a laugh.

Apparently they sold a wallet with some fake IDs of his various identities as part of the promo for Fletch Lives. I found one on a website called Worthpoint... Continue »

Not much happens in this flick until the end, but it manages to maintain a nicely eerie atmosphere in any event.

For anyone who doesn't know: One Dark Night stars Meg Tilly, fresh off Psycho II, playing Julie, a timid high schooler who wants to join "The Sisters," a clique of bitchy popular girls, in order to shed her good girl image.

The Sisters have one final initiation for her: spend the night in the creepy local mausoleum. K, easy enough. Except in true '80s movie fashion, these girl... Continue »

30 years after the original, the powers that be decided it was time to redo another movie that didn't need to be redone. Stephen King is all the rage these days, so why not? The movie is making money, but that doesn't mean anything. Today's audiences will eat up anything, because they don't know what quality is.

So what did the director do to make this movie his own? Nothing, really. There are a few "twists", if you can call them that, considering they gave all this shit away in the trailer,... Continue »

Maybe someone here can help me out with this. Do you know a song that goes something like "It's alright! (then a softer chorus goes "it's alright, it's alriiiiiiiiiiight...") It's OK! (it's OK, it's Okaaaaaaaayyyyyy...) Gonna live! From the edge of the night, til the edge of the day..." I am having problems googling this. I'm usually not that awful about figuring these things out, but I'm completely blowing it today.

I'm not a hundred percent sure he says "edge," either... it could be "end... Continue »

I have talked about this list before, but it is like a bible to me for horror movie recs, at least the most important movies in the genre. I use it as a reference for what to watch frequently. I have seen 634 titles to be exact. Just another 366 movies to go!

I will post it here for anyone interested:

I did something bad today. I went to a buffet where you pay before you eat. The lady told me she was having trouble with the cash register, and that I could just go through and pay before I leave. I hit that buffet hard, and then left without paying.

I did leave a $2 tip for the guy who brought me my iced tea so I wouldn't look like a total ass. I don't know if the lady told anybody else about it when I came in, and I looked all around and didn't see her anywhere before I left. So I d... Continue »

I'm watching this shit for some easy challenge points, but it ain't as easy as I thought it'd be. Sure, I've seen this film before, but it's definitely boring as fuck. I think the scenes about the making of it in Ed Wood (1994) are a lot better than the movie itself. Ed Wood's movies aren't the worst I've seen, but they're pretty dull.

And to think, I used to aspire to BE this guy! Back when I was just getting into trash, he was regarded as a seminal force for b-movie history, and I do admire... Continue »

"Officer, I'm sorry, but we don't allow gum in this house."

John Waters has certainly had an interesting career. He started off with the ultimate trash epics, but he became a little more polished as time went on. By the time Hairspray was laid on thick in 1988, it was questionable as to whether JW lost his touch with his inner sleazeball... or became more subversive than ever.

Kathleen Turner plays the role of Beverly Sutphin with a big fake smile always on her face. She's a delight... Continue »

The Boston Marathon goes right past my apartment building. I'm pretty close to the 23 mile mark. I was a big fan of Supernatural for the first six or seven seasons, so I just waited out in the rain to cheer on Jared P. His wife Genevieve ran it too, and apparently she's a pretty amazing athlete because she was MUCH faster than Jared. Anyway, I feel like a complete schmuck because I basically missed him. I did see him, but he was already past me. I sort of cheered him on, but only because I... Continue »

Cell phones, dude. I never had one until about 2 years ago, but now I don't want to live without it. Quite simply, they are convenient as fuck. The concept of apps is that you can have a computer figure out the whole thing for you. I'm interested in what kind of shit people would want on an app, because app development may be the next step in Trash Epics' evolution. Or in an equally possible scenario, it may be nothing. Who knows? Continue »

I was watching Halloween (1978) for the current challenge today. I should have saved it for tonight, but oh well. Anyway, one thing that has always bothered me is the scene where Michael escapes the asylum. How the hell did he know how to drive? I know this has to have been asked before. Am I missing something here?
