Ok it's been 3 weeks now that this fine actor has left us. I couldn't find a thread so I come up with one. I'm not too fond of the Rob Zombie flicks he starred in but his role as Captain Spaulding was easily the most interesting in those. After those 2 I had seen enough of Zombie and especially his missus. Sid starred in a lot more but can't say there is that many I have seen of those. he regularly started in Jack Hill movies, some blackploitation with Pam Grier. I have seen a handful of these n... I have never heard of this movie before today, but I saw this, and decided to turn it on. I didn't know what to expect. but I have to say, I genuinely enjoyed this movie. It starts off with a group going to a horror movie gathering called Blood Fest. The main charcater is a huge horror fan, but once he gets there he realizes blood fest is not what it seems.

This movie is pretty predictable, but most movies are nowdays. It also has a cameo from Zachary Levi who is amazing in everything I have... Continue »

Hey guys, I was thinking for December, or January we could do an 80s movie challenge. 80s movies are fun, and while I haven't worked out a point system there is a lot 80s movies can offer. Would any of y'all be interested in joining a challenge like this?

I've had so little time for movies lately but have watched a few.

Who Saw Her Die (1972)
Graveyard of Horror (1971)
Pyewacket (2018)

What a glorious piece of trash... In many ways, it's kind of the epitome of the Italian horror movie. It cashes in on every two-bit trend of Italian exploitation and makes it work, despite the director's incompetence. I for one am not a fan of Lucio Fulci. "Hack" is a word I use to describe him, but his hackiness works wonders in voodoo hoodoo bullocks zombie flick.

Made as an "unofficial" sequel to Dawn of the Dead, this turkey really has nothing to do with it, but zombies were all the rage ba... Continue »

This is a very fun game I used to play on another site. It is very simple and similar to rock paper scissors.

Here are the rules:
Players have 3 options:
1. Shoot themselves
If you shoot yourself anyone else who shoots you dies and you live, but if no one shoots you then you kill yourself.
2. Shoot someone else
If you shoot someone else then they die, unless they chose to shoot themselves, then you die.
3. Shoot the sky
You kill no one, but you die if some one shoots you, however you don't run... Continue »

You can never have enough Halloween anthology movies, right? After watching Terrifier, I've always been curious to see where Art the Clown got his start, and this is it.

The opening credits sets the mood perfectly. You're in a Halloween VHS type of scenario and the titles have a static flicker to them that brings about a sense of Halloween III in a way. The wraparound takes us to a suburban house on Halloween night, and what is the address? 237, which as we all know is a haunted number. A woman... Continue »

2018 I went out to California to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. It's a long-distance trail from MExico to Canada, approximately 2650 miles long.
Got to mile 600 when I had to call it off, Going back out again in 2020.

Had fun while I was out there, interspersed with some not so fun.
Day 1: Mile four had a 1000 foot, four mile climb. Welcome to the PCT, ya mook!
Day 2: Tripped on a root and gashed my knee pretty good. Will have that scar for life.
Day 3: Walked into a scene where I got to s... Continue »

So I've died, or completely flatlined at least 4 times (It's why I have a pacemaker now). But after 15 seconds (Not that long to be dead, but still dying a few times is strange) my body did what is pretty much cpr on itself via constriction of muscles. Ever since I found this out I've changed a lot. Including a new value of what life is. This being said, does anyone else ever feel all of the overblown death in horror movies makes us devalue our own lives?

Okay. A movie about a giant killer pig sounds really stupid, doesn't it? And by all means, this movie ought to be a really stupid creature feature, but to my surprise, I really liked it.

Universal delivers this outback tale of animal atrocity involving a family who goes to visit a relative in an area that seemingly has some trouble with wild animals. Fences are getting destroyed, but that's the least of these people's problems, because as you guessed it... there's a giant killer pig on the loos... Continue »

It was 1987, arguably the pinnacle of the decade. The Psycho series just had its third entry and the series was in a good place at the time... so, for some reason, they pitched an idea for another entry in the saga...

"Hey, what if the sequels never happened and Norman isn't even in it?!"

Who will be the main star then?

"Oh, that's easy! It'll be Norman's protege in the institution!"

So already, we're off to a strange start, but okay. So we have some awkward looking guy inherit... Continue »

Once upon a time, Peter Jackson made good movies. It was a long time ago, before he made his boring epic fantasy garbage about elves and midgets who walked places. He used to make horror movies, and The Frighteners was the last good movie he made and seemingly his last venture into the genre itself. Then he sold his soul and became a Hollywood legend. What a dick...

So while this film starts with a lot of atmospheric haunted house imagery, it also starts with some really bad CGI. It probably lo... Continue »

I wont go on too much about this movie because it's one of those types that it's best to go into blindly and see where it takes you. Seann William Scott plays a social worker at a high school and his wife just gave birth. However, the stories he hears from the students, coupled with the stress of raising a new child have made him a bit unhinged. Or was he always that way?

It's a decent little thriller with a few good bits of gore and torture. I found a lot it comparable to Dexter in many ways.... Continue »

So today I watched Stay Alive. Years ago, I saw the trailer and thought this movie looked cool, but I never watched it. I still though the movie looked cool, and the concept seemed very interesting. For the most part it was intriguing. It wasn't the best thing out there, but I didn't hate it. I think I have a soft spot for movies that have this kind of concept. Like final destination, and truth or dare. Mostly I like seeing the different ways people get killed.

Anyways, have y'all seen this mo... Continue »

From the producer of the Evil Dead remake, and guess what? It's going to be... a direct sequel to the original. emoticon

And I thought the continuity for the Halloween series was bad! It's like they're not even trying anymore. They're rehashing and rehashing until they're rehashing a rehashed rehash. What's wrong with continuity these days?

Remember when they already did a direct sequel to the original in 2013? It may have lacked grit, but it was still a fun movie and its heart was in the right... Continue »

I just saw this a couple days ago, for the first time in ages. Is anyone here a big fan?? Of either Serenity or the show Firefly? I have never seen Firefly.

I'm asking because it has an intriguing way of presenting some ideas that are probably Libertarian, or... well, at least conservative in a way that I can see the sense in. The Nathan Fillion character has a little soliloquy where he talks about how the people who run society in the world(s) shown in the movie are often coming up with... Continue »

I always get pumper for the OHC. It's usually the highlight of the month, well, second to celebrating Halloween with the little one. How's everyone popping their cherry and when is everyone starting the challenge.

I'll be starting at the midnight with Night of the Living dead. Actually planning on pulling and all nighter and working my way through the Dead trilogy. Beyond that, I haven't planned ahead.

Isn't it funny how often the year 1997 is used in dystopian cinema? On August 29th, 1997, Skynet launched the nukes that killed 3 billion people. In 1997, a virus wipes out 5 billion people in 12 Monkeys. In 1997, Snake Plissken has to rescue the president in Escape from New York. In 1997, Los Angeles is a ghetto mess in Predator 2. In 1997, Turbo Kid has to fight a tyrant in the wasteland. What a year, huh?

Besides the year, Terminator and 12 Monkeys are almost the same movie. After a massive... Continue »

The Shining is getting a new 4k re-release this October, so I went to watch it in theaters (again) to prepare for the upcoming "Doctor Sleep". What's funny is that this theatrical endeavor was totally cropped to make it widescreen. You could tell because of the end credits were cut off. For a cinematic legend, it's funny that Kubrick made a bunch of his movies in the 4:3 aspect ratio, but we'll forgive him.

For starters, I think this movie is great. A horror classic exceptional for its brooding... Continue »

Anyone have any favorites? This certainly qualifies as a Trash Epics topic.

I am sitting here watching Timecop right now, which I have always liked. Timecop isn't a particularly awesome title, but YEESH that damned Trash Epics spider just crawled past my hand...

Anyway, Jean-Claude Van Damme movies had some decent titles, suitable for saying in the profoundly pissed-off voice of whoever did the voiceover for all the trailers for those movies, which were on VHS cassettes and DVDs for m... Continue »
