Troma figured the last thread ran it's course so I've been nominated to start a new one. So to get started here's a song titled with Troma's favourite director:

Here's a link to my review for this movie:
https://trashepics.com/post/1/771/

If you're wondering why the fuck I'm referring you to a review of Sorority House Massacre 2, it's because it's the same fucking movie!

The only real difference is that this one is set in a big office building instead of a sorority house, but otherwise, you have the same cast (either renamed OR playing the same characters), the same tropes, the same flashbacks to Slumber Party Massacre 1, and the same damn plot p... Continue »

In case you didn't know, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are some of the best filmmakers to come out of the last decade. Just go ahead and watch Resolution, Spring, and The Endless if you haven't already. Judging by those movies alone, I knew this new(ish) one wouldn't let me down.

A common theme in some of the aforementioned films is time fuckery, and this movie is no exception. Two paramedics get caught up in a bizarre drug plot that yields a story with plenty of emotional depth, tension, an... Continue »

My webhost just informed me that they'll be discontinuing support for the version of php I'm using to run this dump. What this means is that I'll have to go through every line of code on here to make sure it's up to date.

Hopefully, this wont take as long as it sounds, and I'll be researching the changes necessary to keep the downtime minimal. More on this as it develops.

Since I haven't been able to find The Next Karate Kid on streaming yet, I decided to revisit another movie in which an old man teaches Hilary Swank how to fight.

This was one of Anthony Mackie's first movies. He played an arrogant boxer in Clint's gym, and he was making fun of her tits for not being big enough. I thought her tits looked alright though.

And to wrap up this long-winded and comprehensive review...

Great fuckin' movie.

...since Bowie passed. I remember waking up and seeing that headline and it was such a shock. The world wasn't ready for that news and it's finally starting to sink in. I've also been waiting five years to make this post. emoticon

And what a fantastic year to make some cinematic discoveries! They can make us not do a lot of things during a pandemic, but obsessively searching streaming services for random movies at 2 A.M. is not one of them... at least not yet. It's been a dark time, an uncertain time on many levels. A time, if one can, to distract oneself from the harsh realities of the real world and the fake news. Today is the day we're going to take a look at my top ten... Continue »

Has anyone seen this one? Joe Bob Briggs showed it at least once on Monster vision, and it was on YouTube at one time. I never see it mentioned anywhere. It was a fairly decent occult horror with a lot of things typical of the mid to late 80s. It had some good kills, super hot Joanna Pacula, plenty of action, and a cat monster almost as ridiculous as the one in Uninvited. It had some pretty glaring similarities to the Wes Craven TV horror Summer of Fear as far as the story goes.

1980 was all about a drastic change in life and society, huh? As the Ramones so elegantlyeloquently? put it in their lovely Rock and Roll Radio jingle, "It's the end of the 70s, it's the end of the century". I'll admit, I have a fondness for some Cars-esque new wave shit, and the 80s did usher in one of the best decades for horror. But for some reason, this year gave us this movie, and Terror Train, which I ranted about earlier this year https://trashepics.com/pos... Continue »

Because why not? I had a lot of fun with this loose and seasonal challenge, because Christmas stuff is in abundance, so you might as well get points for it.

December 1st, 2020 --- January 1st, 2021

What Counts?

Movie or TV. Christmas must play a noticable part in the film/episode. Yes, Die Hard and Lethal Weapon count.

For good measure, New Years also counts, but only from December 26th onward!

Viewings will only count once (No rewatches)

I think I had seen this skit before, but I just watched some compilations on YouTube and JEEZ it is so funny. For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's supposed to be a soap opera set somewhere in or around Los Angeles, with rich people getting in soap opera situations and giving complex highway driving directions. OK, it sounds like something that an emotionally and psychologically healthy person would want to avoid like The Black Death, but it's incredibly funny. Probably one of the funnier thing... Christopher Landon's Happy Death Day was a lot of fun. It took old concepts and mashed them together into something that was surprisingly enjoyable. The sequel was a bit of a convoluted mess that already insisted in retreading the same ground, only the charm was cut in half in favor of weird sci-fi vibes that didn't really do it for me. This time, he took the old body swap concept and applied it slashers, and somehow he managed to get Vince Vaughn to step into the shoes of a slasher again... Continue »

You guys are not gonna believe this one. On my way home from my parents' last night, around midnight, I got pulled over because my license plate light was out. No big deal.

But the cop was acting real funny, kept shining the light in my eyes and asking me the same questions over and over. And he said some code numbers and stuff into his walkie. I thought maybe he thought I was drunk, but I hadn't had any alcohol all night.

A couple more cops showed up, and another one came to my car and was as... Continue »

...and blood covered boobies. Dread Central gives us this Christmas/Krampus horror flick, which should tell you right away that there will be a strong emphasis on gore, comedy, and shitty cliches to represent all the reasons why non-horror fans dismiss the genre for being stupid and lazy. This is Slay Belles, and I'm still not sure why there's an extra 'e' in "Belles". emoticon

Our story is pretty thin, featuring three cosplay girls who go into a rundown Santa-themed amusement park for so... Continue »

It's getting harder to have a merry Christmas with kids acting the way they do. It used to be easy. He used to be an optimist, but he's got enough scars to question his faith in this holiday season.

The economy makes it hard to make ends meet, but still, he goes on with his duties because the few that appreciate his efforts make it all worthwhile for him. Of course, some people are bound to be let down because they haven't been very nice. No, they haven't been very nice at all, and the only way... Continue »

Massacre in Dinosaur Valley
Massacre at Central High
Death Laid an Egg (supposedly with an English language dub option this time)
Living Dead at Manchester Morgue

Okay, I know Screen Rant is a pile of shit that is only still in business because of the Pitch Meeting videos, but what the hell is this? Is this for real? He better only be playing the Melvin version.

Oh what the fuck, I'm sure it'll suck either way....

Can someone just explain something to me. I don't know where to ask this question, I'm just gonna ask it here. Please just leave this up until someone has explained this to me, I reallly want to understand it.

I mean, movies set in England, or anywhere in the UK I guess, in a big old "country house"/manor/semi-castle/whatever. Does anybody have any good ones that come to mind? The Legacy is the first one that comes to mind, for me. Also, The Crimson Cult, AKA Curse of the Crimson Altar (1968), whcih was on TV late-ish last night, and is the reason I'm thinking of this topic. Also, Vampyres (1974), Wicker Man (1973), Lair of the White Worm (1988)(partly, not the whole movie but sometimes)... you co... Continue »

This is a movie that, much like Ice Cream Man 1995, is one that I thought would have been terrible and had avoided for most of my life. It turned out I was wrong. Again.

The premise is dumb as hell, but the execution is lot of fun. Our serial killer embodied in a snowman has snow-related powers and kills people in ways that start off seeming like accidental deaths, but he quickly progresses to some of those creative slasher kills we were all waiting for.

For the most part, you don't see much o... Continue »
