Well since Box went into nostalgia mood here is one from me.

I have long lost interest in American wrestling. I guess 1991 must have been the last year I followed it fanatically; But I believe at that moment it wasn't shown frequently any more on the European channels (like Eurosport) and I got other interests. I mean trained of guys putting on a fake wrestling match where the winner was already decided before the start... However all respect to these guys as they had to workout like 5 hours a... Does anyone here have a favorite stories about these critters? I have just been reading a little about them. They sound familiar, but I can't remember where I might have read about them. It is possible I just read a sory that quickly mentioned them.... anyway, the idea of them is kind of interesting. They are mysterious, incomprehensible creatures from beyond time and space, and they are "attracted by time travel." When someone travels through time, they are alerted somehow, and they will t... I might actually going to re-watch more than doing first time views. Not that I'm running out of options but somehow I want to find a good balance and not have a lot of disappointments.

There is stuff like the Entity, Demon Seed, Humanoids from the Deep. Those are the flicks I'm looking forward to revisit.

On the other hand there is movies I want to give another shot even though they weren't exactly a success last time. 2 in particular, classics and popular movies.

The Thing (1982): even thou... Continue »

I almost posted this in the Horror section under John Carpenter's Vampires, for reasons that will become clear momentarily. But, whatever, it makes more sense to post it here.

If you look at the picture of the band in the bathtub here, on their album cover...

I would just like to note that there is a pretty good chance that Denny Doherty, the guy who is sitting near the rear of the tub, the third one in from the left.... is... wait for it... sport... Continue »

So I know a lot of us are completely, or mostly soulless, but I want to hear the movies that make you cry.

So what usually gets me is animals. The first thing I remember crying to was Air Bud. When he had to go back to his original owner, and the heartbreak was obvious in both the dog and child.

Other than that specific movie, animal deaths are the ones that make me cry. But there are some movies, that I cry at the feel of it. Not so much the people dying, but the reaction of the people aroun... Continue »

This here is a feature I've never really thought about until now, but I'll be implementing it within the end of this month for reasons we all can agree upon: The October Challenge.

The gist of it is this: At the end of every month, me or a mod will submit a newsletter that will target all valid users who subscribe to the newsletter (and have NOT been active in say a week's time) and it will email them with a tally of their unread notifications, followed by a memo of any notable upcoming events... Anyone remember this made-for-cable slasher film? I haven't seen it for a long time (once around the time it was made and then again in very poor quality on YouTube quite a few years ago) but thought it was above average. I don't think I ever saw it mentioned on the old horror board or here. It's strengths were the somewhat weird premise (performance artist opens up a telephone service where people can call in and admit to committing various sins, and inevitably a serial killer of gay men cal... I would have said that that was not even possible, but this is a genuinely freaky, disturbing story about something that Adam Sandler claims actually happened to him. Yeesh.

Maybe Johnny is vampire. We'll see...

Apparently, this was a real subplot that was dabbled with in the 500-page pre-film novelization of the movie, but here's a bit from some random site I saw:
https://www.factfiend.com/room-almost-flying-vampire-car/

Specifically after bemoaning to a producer that a scene depicting a confrontation with a drug dealer wasnโ€™t dramatic enough, Wiseau asked if it would be possible to use CGI to have the climax of the confrontation be his charac

So I went to this place called "Rekall" to get some good ol' fake memories about a fictional adventure, and I tend to forget how great this movie is.

Arnold tried to make this movie for about ten years before putting it in the hands of Paul Verhoeven, relatively fresh off of his last sci-fi epic RoboCop. It's a match made in heaven. Trivia states that Arnold was an option to play RoboCop, but due to his sheer size, that wouldn't have been the best mash-up. Total Recall is a better fit for him a... Continue »

List a movie title and use the last word in the title as the first word in another movie's title to make the longest, most ridiculous movie title out there.

Example:

The Premature Burial Ground: The Nihgts of Terror Training Day of the Dead Man Walking Tall

and don't reuse a title. Let's see what you can come up with.

Because somebody's got to host it.

No exceptional rules this year. 1 point per minute, movie or tv counts.

EDIT: It appears that the title of the thread isn't enough to indicate that the movies or shows watched must be of the SCI-FI or FANTASY genre.

Begins 12am September 1st
Ends 6am October 1st

The winner gets fakes money.

Make your spots.

Not much news going on lately as I indifferently approach the would-be best time of activity for the site. I think COVID made a lot of people even too lazy for the internet, but we'll cross our fingers that the October Challenge shows the return of at least a few familiar faces. Try to spam it to your friends and family. If you have ideas on how to make October great again, then speak up.

As I juggle my time between stupid work and stupid school, I am (slowly) working on some dumb shit I may a... Continue »

10 TE users including myself made a ranked list from 50 to 100 movies. I used a simple points system meaning the top movie in a list of 100 got 100 points, the second 99 and so on with 1 point for the 100th movie. For lists with less than 100 movies I recalculated the positions as if it were a list of 100.

The result was a list of 452 unique movies. I shall for now just post the top 100. When movies ended on equal points, the movie which appears on most lists will come first. If that is the s... Continue »

As the title already says I would like to create a top 100 of horror movies from individual lists from each who likes to make a list.
Tromafreak created an individual top 100 horror a while ago, that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. He could actually use that one if that hasn't changed til now.

Now I understand that for some it might not be possible to come up with 100 so I set a minimum of 50 movies.

So these are the rules:

* Those who want to provide a list reserve a spot here where t... Continue »

You guys, this movie was made for us. It has a pathetic rating on IMDB, 4.something. But I'm pretty sure that's just because most people watching it wouldn't understand the references. I think it's pretty interesting.

The beginning makes me think of Harold Pinter plays... just the way the two main characters talk to each other. Well, like Harold Pinter, but FUNNY. Henry Thomas is hilarious. I shouldn't say too much about that.

I am gonna hope that a few people here have already seen it,... Continue »

Songs at least 10 minutes long.

"The Long One" by The Beatles. It's almost a cheat, but the flow is pretty magnificent.

"Dogs" and "Pigs" by Pink Floyd. They have a few songs like "Shine On" and "Echoes" that are also great, but these ones groove more.

"I Heard it Through the Grapevine" by Creedence. It's easy to zone out to, just like "Stranglehold" by Nugent.

"The Land of Canaan" by Therion. I never know wtf they say in their songs, but I love the transitions.... Continue »

Ok I have recently learned that an orca isn't a whale but a dolphin. I guess they didn't knew that back in the 70s as they still referred to him as killer whale. My blu ray with German title mentions: orca: the killer whale;

So that means it isn't literally a rip-off from Moby Dick or Jaws and Free Williy eventually became the family friendly version of Orca. But since many killer fish/water mammals eventually became labeled as Jaws rip-offs, movies trying to cash-in on Spielberg's movie.

It might sound strange but Iโ€™ve have only seen this movie in full recently. I did see parts of it on TV before but never triggered me enough to watch the whole movie. Also I donโ€™t really have a high opinion on James Cameron as a director. I have seen his first movie Piranha II the Spawning like a week ago which was rather dreadful. Ok Iโ€™m quite a fan of the original I must admit. Furthermore I have seen Titanic and Avatar (aka Dancing with the Smurfs) while visually stunning they are rathe... Continue »

Dave Franco's feature length directorial debut is a horror movie, and it came out in 2020. Yeah, movies are actually coming out this year, can you believe that? This one is about two couples taking a weekend in a rental house, and you know something bad is going to happen.

Charlie (Dan Stevens) and his girlfriend Michelle (Allison Brie) are one part of the equation, and Charlie's brother Josh (Jeremy Allen White, Lip from Shameless) and his girlfriend/Charlie's business partner Mina (Sheila Van... Continue »
