2 episodes into season 4 and it's pretty good so far. I also noticed how long these episodes are. Basically feature length, yet people still binge this show in a day? It's gonna take me longer than that.

I still believe the best approach is to release a season 1-episode at a time rather than in bulk, because it helps with the hype. Netflix's approach does help with the spoilers. It can be out for a single day, and news headlines will spoil it the very next day. Fortunately, I haven't had anythi... Continue »

In an unlikely scenario, common sense prevailed and JD actually won in that shit-show.

I couldn't care less about him making anymore Pirates movies, but I would like to see him make some more good movies again.

I'll keep this short and sweet. Watch black & white stuff. You get 1 point per minute. The challenge starts NOW and ends when May ends.

This is a fun chunk of Springwood Americana in the late 80s. It's nice to think of these frequent mishaps as the events responsible for the town's decline between Dream Child and Freddy's Dead.

The continuity is up for interpretation. Freddy is featured in a starring capacity in maybe 7 of 44 episodes, and you can skip directly to those if you want.

Give it a watch if you're an Elm Street nut.

Are there already posts here, about this movie? Maybe I'm missing them... anyway, I just wanted to ramble about it, a little bit.

The Hidden is very much a Trash Epic, and therefore eminently suitable for this forum. It features Kyle MacLachlan as some kind of alien interstellar cop, pursuing an evil alien interstellar criminal. Kyle M's character appears human, but he comes across almost like an angel, really. In one scene, we see that his animating lifeforce is sort of a glowing, spiritua... Continue »

I was just thinking about this today. I have no idea if it's significant, but I noticed that there are some similarities between those two movies. They both feature a seriously deranged man who kills people, whether it is deliberately (WaSC) or by accident (in Strangeland, the psycho tortures people, and is clearly out of his fucking mind, but he doesn't actually intend to commit murder).

In both movies, the deranged man is apprehended and locked up, fairly early in each movie. Then later... Continue »

People seem to be really offended that I don't like a mainstream Hollywood horror. This reminds me of that time on imdb where I hated on 'Inside' and people thought I had to be trolling so they banned me. I'd lost my account of many years, hundreds of ratings and posts, and dozens of reviews. Glad to see the good old days haven't gone away completely. But you can't ban me here! I run this dump! Well, actually... I did the dumbest thing ever and made a way that you can get rid of me... Continue »

This comes out today. We'll see how it goes. It's supposed to be Disney's first mature content series, and while they say it'll be "brutal", I doubt it'll ever be as gnarly as Daredevil and Punisher. The word brutal has a much different meaning in such a family-friendly platform. To them, brutal is probably something like joking about a woman's hair. Or lack thereof.

I've never read any MK comics, but the character seems interesting. This is Disney Marvel finally making a show around a unique c... Continue »

Only 5 of us but congrats to Ballz for pretty much wiping the floor with everyone else. All I can say for myself is, thank goodness Zombie took part...

1. Ballz (2825)
2. Box (1820)
3. Troma (1695)
4. Markus (1115)
5. Zombie (146)

Anything you watched that you particularly enjoyed? I thought Netflix's Arcane was one of the best animated series I've ever seen.

Now THIS is a horror movie! The less you know, the better, so I won't say anything about the plot. It's got an oldschool 70's slowburn thing going, and boy does it pay off in the end. Really, I have not been this impressed by a theatrically released horror film in a long, long time.

Some of these are funny. If you scroll down on this guy's account, you can see that he has put Leatherface into over 80 images from history, old movies, etc.

I finally went back to this con after a two year absence. It was cancelled in 2020, and I was feeling very iffy about the post-pandemic state of conventions in 2021 and skipped that one. And for what I ended with, I probably should have skipped this year too.

I only did the Sunday pass, which runs from 11am to 5pm. I got there early to meet Brad Dourif when the lines opened at 11, and by 11:20, they shut the doors and said "Brad Dourif is done for the day." I was pissed. He was the big... Continue »

I like to be innovative with this site. Even when there's not much going on, I still like to improve this place, even if nobody knows what the hell I'm doing with it.

My site ambitions tend to ping pong, but I always come back to old ideas and expand on them. Some of the useless crap I've been working on is mentioned below.

Different format for titles in the media database. Instead of one string to store the movie's name, it's now 4 fields: Surtitle, Prefix, Title, and Subtitle. It... Continue »

Kids are off school for the Easter holidays (which obviously only applies to parents like me) so hey what better time to get some cartoons watched - kiddy suitable, or erm otherwise...

- Feature length, TV shows, shorts - they all count.

The women die quickly and the men to do all the dirty work. People cheer after an old white guy shoots a black man in the street. The police encourage a vigilante to kill adolescents and delinquents. New York is really painted in a urban grit where gang violence has taken over. Does Paul Kersey really need a bazooka? Yes, he absolutely needs to fire one off in the boss fight, and Jimmy Page needs to score it.

Part of me entertained the idea to humanize the gangs, which isn't the movie's intenti... Continue »

I hope everybody's in the mood because it's happening again! Trash month is almost here. And for the sixth year in a row, we will explore the offbeat, the obscure, the unrealistically gory, and hopefully something nice and traumatizing to dream about during nappy time. So, join me... or don't. You can go trim your ass hairs with some garden shears for all I care. I'm watching some trash!

That's the mantra of Ti West's 'X', his 1979 rural Texas grindhouse throwback. It's a well crafted horror flick about dirty subject matter, which is sort of a commentary about the line between art and smut. I'll be vague with the story recap, but my plot description is as follows:

An amateur porn film crew is terrorized by the sex lives of old people.

It's also a bit like Tobe Hooper's Eaten Alive. And regarding the old people, that's why this movie is gross. Old people are a gro... Continue »

So, two years after the fact, Tarantino decided to turn his latest movie into a novel.

It's definitely an interesting read for fans of the movie. It tells the same story, but from somewhat of a different perspective. There are things in the book that are not in the movie, and things from the movie not in the book. And some things are told in a different order. It's pretty decent, I would definitely recommend it for Tarantino heads.

But there are many moments in the book that just go off on lon... Continue »

I've been updating some movie info on the database over the last few weeks and one of the things was plot descriptions. Most of them were scraped from imdb's pages, but they can be too vauge or too long-winded. There's an art to movie descriptions. Think of them like on the back of a VHS cover. It has to be somewhat precise in order to fit between the pictures. It also needs to make the movie sound as awesome as possible.

Think of a movie you really like. How would you (spoiler-free) des... Continue »

image Yeah, that's right. I had a pet chicken. She wandered into my backyard one day and my whole family fell in love with her. Most people would probably think of chickens as stupid, but this hen was something else. She liked to hang out with humans, she let you pet her and pick her up, she came when you called her, she ate all the bugs in the backyard, and she gave us some delicious eggs to eat.

It was only 24 hours ago that I took her bug huntin... Continue »

It's a wise choice to separate Batman from the rest of DC's shitty characters. The Snyder movies suck and Ben Affleck is a joke, proving that Batman works better as a standalone character. The most interesting part of Batman is that he isn't a superhero. He's simply very good at what he does, so there's no need to bog him down with magic and mysticism. He's an armored vigilante detective, and that's what this movie is all about.

From early on, I knew this movie was the type of Batman movie I wa... Continue »
