Just how incredible is this man, you ask? Monstrously incredible.

The premise is that of a classic monster movie. Some group tries to stop a bad accident from getting worse, and our hero/villain/victim is the gimmick. A man melts. The concept of the film is terrifying. The execution is not. It's cheesy and poorly shot at times, but it is gory. It has to be, right?

The dude is fucked either way, and we take a trip through his decomposition and it is pretty gnarly. Throw in a s... Continue »

I just wanted to mention this one, in case anybody's interested. It's not exactly a gem, but it has its attractions, and it certainly qualifies as a trash epic.

I'm talking about the movie by this name starring Bill Moseley, Paul Logan, Sydney Sweeney, Vernon Wells, Nestor Serrano, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, etc. Not the French movie also called The Horde, from 2009. Here, this is the one I'm talking about:

Anybody have any strong feelings about this one? The 1982 movie will never be surpassed, of course, but in some ways the 2011 prequel takes respectable risks, I think.

I have seen most of it before, just channel surfing, but I watched the whole thing this weekend. I tried to pay attention, and not just zone out like I often/usually do.

One interesting element of the prequel: I am not absolutely certain of this, but I had the strong impression that at least some of the Thing-ified humans beli... Continue »

So the rules are simple as fuck. Watch as much TV as you possibly can throughout the entirety of July and get 1 point for every minute you watch of the stuff.

Can be TV shows or documentaries but we already have a doc challenge so try to stick to TV shows, eh.

Some bonus point possibilities:

If you watch an entire season of a show, in which each episode lasts over 40 minutes, you can claim 50 bonus points per episode. So if you watch a season of a show that has 10 episode... Continue »

Did anybody here watch this show regularly? I remember it, and I know I saw at least a few episodes. I don't think I was really paying attention though. I probably just had it on as a distraction, while I was making sandwiches, or something along those lines.

Anyway, in the US, the SyFy channel appears to be showing some kind of Warehouse 13 marathon this weekend.

So anyway, Joanne Kelly is amazing!! I'm probably just noticing this because she's such a babe, but, she seriously kicks ass.... Continue »

Fresh off of the first Nightmare movie, Johnny Depp found himself next in the midst of a buddy sex comedy at private resort, ripe for all sorts of unjustified shennanigans. I find it amusing that there is no prologue as to why they are at the resort, nor is there an epilogue of what happens when they leave. The story exists solely in the Private Resort.

I eat a lot of pizza. Sometimes, I think the pizza is eating me. After work, I always check for pizza on clearance. I recently discovered Detroit style pizza and it's fucking good eh. And breakfast pizza is my SHIT. But I'll eat any pizza, so the more toppings, the better. Supreme is good because it tricks the pizza into being a bit more healthy since it has veggies.

Are you a ninja turtle like I am? What's your favorite pizza type/place?

Welcome to the 2022 Crime Challenge. It's been 3 years since the last one so it's about time we got our hands dirty.

You can watch any movie or TV show involving crime. If in doubt, please use IMDb or any other major movie database to check if a movie is tagged with "crime". However, certain superhero or sla... Continue »

OK, no sane person would call fireworks a sport, but it's a spectator activity, soooo... well, whatever, just keep reading if you want to read my comment.

I am usually too scared to go out to large public gatherings these days, for various reasons you can easily guess. But, there is a hill near where I live, and from the top of the hill you can watch multiple towns having their foreworks displays, all at once, at this time of year. It's pretty cool.

This year I could see at least eight towns... Continue »

Box, please feel free to edit my subject line if you want, so it says movies or books instead of stories, or put this post in a better category, or whatever you want... I am just rambling here, I'm not sure where to put this.

I was just thinking about this... I have probably posted this general idea here before, but not for a while, I don't think. Anyways, what US cities do you think need, deserve, or whatever, to have more films, TV shows, and/or books set there? It can be your own home city... Continue »

Ok, I wasn't really in the mood to write anything this week, but I gotta say something about this. The other night, I watched this movie on the Tubi that I wasn't particularly excited about, but ended up pleasantly surprised, dare I say a bit shocked. Shocked by the unbelievable level of schlock that the IMDb synopsis didn't even begin to prepare me for. A pretty ordinary-sounding movie by what I read. However, it all plays out in the most rush... Or more accurately, which do you have access to? And are they worth it? Would you pay for them? No, but you would gladly mooch off of someone else's account, right?

Tubi is an exploitation fan's wet dream. We spent hours tracking down these movies in our youths, and here they are on "Tubi"? For free? Call me crazy, but the ads help simulate the experience of watching broadcast tv with those little intermissions. Suffice to say, it's well worth the cost. Tubi is probably the best streamin... Is the only studio putting out good cinema these days imo. While not every film is perfect at least their releases are original and they take chances. I remember 1st seeing their logo at the beginning of Spring Breakers and Tusk. Just watched The Disaster Artist finally ( I know, late to the party) and y'all were right, great film. Any thoughts and favorites from A24?

I used to despise her in this. After watching it for maybe the dozenth time, I finally realized how good she played it. The character is a total victim, having been coaxed into a lifestyle she said from the get-go she wasn't interested in. Her heart was always for someone else (James Woods, sporting a mustache), but De Niro cages her.

Maybe it's a dude thing. She's a woman, so I shouldn't care about her plight, but a fat bowl will do that to ya. A fat bowl will make you think! And overthink!

What glories am I missing out on now?

Star Wars? Meh. I don't watch any of them except the movies, and I barely like those to begin with.

Marvel? Shows about shitty side characters. Aimed at audiences who don't know good tv.

National Geographic? I don't have time for this shit!

And worst of all... Disney & Pixar.

I take a bit of joy in knowing when something I hate bombs. I read that their new Marvel show has the lowest viewing numbers of all their shows thus far. Good for them.

The moment everyone's been waiting their entire life for... a babbling on POLICE ACADEMY.

If you didn't know, there are 7 movies leading up to this series, so it needs to be good, right? Fortunately, it can be considered "good", because it's soooo much better than Mission to Moscow. That piece of shit.

This show is so 90s. It's not very funny, but it did last for two seasons. It acts as a follow-up to the films, but only motormouth Jones is a recurring character. Fortunately, some of th... Continue »

I gave this movie a fitting description in the database. Now, if that plot summary doesn't make you jump out of your seats in excitement to see such an intense sounding film, then I'll sway you with something else: There are in fact hotdog hands in this movie, and people do fellate them. There's also a dildo fight scene and some butt stuff, but surprisingly no nudity. James Hong and Indy's lost partner Shortround are in this, and the whole premise is about stopping a giant b... I will try to think of more things to say about this movie, and come back and post them. I always thought this was a better movie than it got credit for. It tried a little too hard, with the Shakespeare quotes, but it's still a pretty fun watch, IMHO.

I just quickly wanted to mention that Roy DuPuis did a really good job, as one of the evil humanoid A.I. run amok robot villains. He was menacing, but also funny in an insane way that works well. It's too bad he didn't get more roles.

Are they meaningful to you as a viewer? IMDb has their standard list of genres that I find mostly accurate. I still believe Terminator should be classified as a horror film, but it's otherwise mostly accurate. The main list of movie genres I support here are:
Action, Adventure, Animation, Biography, Comedy, Crime, Documentary, Drama, Family-Friendly, Fantasy, Giallo, History, Horror, Mockumentary, Music, Musical, Mystery, Noir, Romance, Sci-Fi, Sport, Thriller, War, Western

This movie looks like a total joke at first, but it's actually pretty fun. It's about Bigfoot, or a creature similar to Bigfoot, terrizing some people at adjecent condos way the hell out in the woods somewhere. It also terrorizes some of the locals. I guess it's supposed to be having a really bad day, after a prolonged period of not killing people.

The cast is... pretty fricking amazing, really. It has Jeffrey Combs, Lance Henriksen, Dee Wallace, and Paul Gleason, all in fairly minor part... Continue »
