Revisited these 2 movies last night, the rewatch for The Innkeepers did the trick, i appreciated it more and i changed the rating from 5/10 to 6/10 but for YellowBrickRoad while i absolutely love slow burn horror this one just didn't work for me, it had some truly terrifying scenes but as a whole the movie fell flat and aimless 4/10

At the time of writing, the only movie on here which has the full gamut of votes from 1 to 5 is...

I suppose it shouldn't be suprising that a remake/reboot of a beloved franchise can cause such differing opinion, but i thought it might be something more extreme or perverse like A Serbian Film or Pink Flamingos.

Anyway, don't really know where i'm going with this, bit bored.... Continue »

I just got Suspicious Death of a Minor a few days ago. Will probably be watching it in just a little while.

Yeah, it's another Stephen King story turned into pop-culture mini-series. The prologue shows a man run down a crowd of innocents in 2009, and now... in 2011... the retired detective is still on the case.

The show hasn't aired in entirety yet, but so far, it's pretty good. Not "11.22.63" good, but it's entertaining. That Stephen King sure can write a good yarn. The series is a cat-and-mouse type thing, where you see perspectives of both the hero and the villain. The villain has a decent and i... Continue »

My waiting time is over. I finally saw it last week! And I have to say that I absolutely loved it.

What's it about? In 1974, 'he' murdered his entire family as they slept in a haunted house, in Amityville, but 40 years later, a single mother that moves her three children into that the same house.

This movie is terrific, crazy and scary with some creepy moments. But yet, it's a lot of fun to watch. It has great jump scares! I found the twists crazy.

One thing in this movie made me surpr... Continue »

A few days ago, some dumb bitch crashed into my sister's van and totaled the fucking thing, almost killing my 4 month old nephew and sending my sending my sister to the hospital with a broken sternum. Now, that spoiled teenage brat who hit her (who was entirely happy-go-lucky at the crime scene, by the way) is faking injuries and trying to sue the sis, when her car was virtually undamaged. Why do people like this even exist?

A post in the Challenge thread got me thinking about this, plus I watched Deadline last night, which qualifies...

...so what are some horror films that feature other, unknown/fabricated films or films made specifically as part of the plot device for the film in which they appear. E.G. in Deadline one of the films that is currently being produced is not an actual film that I'm aware of, and in the film Found there is a fabricated (but then subsquently released) film "Headless".... They Have Changed Their Face is perhaps the most innovating and original take on the Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. In this intoxicating allegory on capitalism, they substituted the well- trodden Dracula with a successful and powerful businessman, Giovanni Nosferatu, the head of a massive corporation, who invites a low- ranking employee to, from what appears on the exterior as an old dilapidated villa. As soon as he arrives in the locality - thing... Continue »

Remember how back in the day when submitting goofs it usually took a few days at least for them to show up? Well, now they are instantaneous. Apparently they believe anything people post now.
I'm tempted to create a dummy account and post something blatantly false just to see if it instantly is posted, and how long it takes to come down.

Has anyone watched this? The "scene" that the movie culminates to, was seriously chilling material.

I'll admit it, I'm a fan of the Jeepers Creepers movies. Yes, I'm aware of the controversy surrounding the director Victor Salva. He's a scumbag sure, but I still enjoy his movies.

I have been looking forward to part 3 of the Creeper movies for a very long time, and now I hear that it's playing in theaters for one night only (which is scheduled for tonight September 26th) due to people threatening to protest the movie. So sick of people ruining things.

Does knowing a director has a histo... Continue »

Here's another FTV for me this year, because Stephen King has so goddamn many movies out there, I still haven't even seen them all. Firestarter is a government experiment gone wrong, and those trying to get away from those damn government agents that are always trying to make a weapon out of everything.

Mark L. Lester was a busy man in the early 80s with Class of 1984, Firestarter, and Commando. Beyond the early 90s, I guess his career turned to shit with obscure titles no one's heard of.

What surprised me about this movie was the cast. There's quite a few names in there, because every big actor has worked on a King story at some point or another... and some even worked on several King stories! Continue »

A few days ago, it premiered on-demand. That's right... this glorious bastard didn't even get mainstream theater treatment, because it's that kind of movie.

Directed by French-extremists Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, this movie is definitely violent, and takes it takes you all over the place, from homestead havoc, to mental asylum madness, to deranged road trip hijinx, and back to regular ol' Texas Chainsaw Massacres.

It ain't perfect. The movie looks like a nasty piece of ce... Continue »

I was thinking of starting with Hรคxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages (1922). I was also thinking of watching D@bbe (2006), Even the Wind Is Afraid (1968) and Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (1970) that same day. I will have a lot of time on my hands in October so I hope to see a few great movies.

Anyone have any idea what they are going to kick-off the Oct Challenge with?

I've always had a thing for Time Travel. Always found it fascinating ever since I watched the Back To The Future Trilogy as a kid. And, to me, it's what really makes the Terminator franchise so interesting. Anyone have any underseen recs for the challenge? what are your favorite time travel movies?

1) Watched The Giant Gila Monster (1959). A friend recommended this to me more than a year ago but I just now got to it. A fairly typical example of the low budget US monster genre of its time, with small town teens and the titular reptile. An amusing picture of the wholesome life of its era, the teens like their fast cars and swinging music but they don't drink or smoke or swear or screw or fight or disrespect their elders, the elders are mostly kindly and helpful and even the drunk drivers are... I seen The Dead Pit a few weeks ago, and to be honest - I wasn't expecting much from it, but I thought it was excellent. It is a dark, gloomy zombie flick that shares some similarities with Hellbound: Hellraiser II - that sense of dread throughout, and the evil doctor! From beginning to end, I found it fairly creepy. I am not sure if anyone else is a fan of it, but I loved it. My vote is 8!

Any thoughts on it?
