Check this e-mail I just got:

I am aware 72penz is your passphrases. Lets get straight to purpose. There is no one who has paid me to investigate about you. You may not know me and you are most likely wondering why you are getting this email?

in fact, i installed a software on the X video clips (porno) site and there's more, you visited this website to experience fun (you know what i mean). While you were watching video clips, your web browser started out operating as a Remot

This is an old simulated news broadcast from the 80's, done roughly in the style of the War of the Worlds radio broadcast. It depicts a crisis involving domestic terrorists who hold the city of Charleston, South Carolina hostage with a nuclear bomb they made themselves. If you want to go straight to the most brutal part, the minute starting at about one hour thirty two minutes should do the trick for you. But, the buildup is pretty well done, if you care to follow the whole story. OK, now th... Continue »

The idea has been brewing in my head for some time. Has anyone ever had their own ideas about getting involved in something like this before? Curious to know. Obviously the main hurdle for most people is cash. No one really has vast sums of money lying around to invest (throwaway?) on a project like this but I think I could get some cash together if I really wanted to do this (and could persuade family members that I am not completely insane). Not a lot of cash, but enough for a micro-budget I r... Continue »

Arguably two of the best directors who debuted in the '80s with some pretty similar parallels - in addition to their films largely being horror / comedies, they readily dabble in the horrors of medical science gone wrong. And the consensus is that their first two films are also their best and most widely acclaimed. I don't think there's any disputing that.

Who's your favorite of the two? And how would you rank each of their first two movies?

I think I would take Stuart Gordon, but only... Continue »

Well, how about that? They don't have much, but it's free. Can't argue with that. All you need is an imdb account. I guess that's one way to make up for the destruction of free speech on the message boards, but how is this going to fare?

Amazon owns IMDb. I'm guessing this will generally be a small selection of any titles Amazon has the rights to, and these things generally change every now and then, as old titles go and new titles enter.

Not a big selecti... Continue »

In the trailer for Children of the Corn (1984) around the 35-second mark, it sounds like a kid is yelling apple pie. Am I hearing this correctly?

Would you want one? Think of it like the movie/tv database, which is technically also a video game database (but I haven't added shit). You can add titles, categorize stuff, and rate it.

You could add basic horror-ish titles and whatever else. I'm sure there are plenty of important horror novels that were adapted into films, as well as horror novelizations that could be mentioned.

I'm asking for thoughts and trying to build hype, but either way, I'm gonna add this feature because the frame... Continue »

I had posted about this in another thread, but wanted to make a dedicated thread for it. This is a text based roll playing game that requires almost no effort can be really really fun. The following post has the rules and a very boiled down example.

So I've been tossing arround this idea of fantasy box office. Like fantasy sports each week we have a line up we play say 3 actors 2 writers 2 directors and 1 producer. We then get points based off of box office numbers and possibly dvd sales for each week(not sure if thats a gettable number each week). We would have a draft and each person would draft say 20 people round robin style. We would start at a certian date and go for like 12 or 16 weeks picking a lineup each week and then have a tourn... So Hell Fest is out on dvd already. It had a limited theatrical run, which is surprising for a genre title like this one, but when big names are involved... anything is possible. When I say "big names", I refer to their selling point that was important enough to put on the poster: From an executive producer of The Walking Dead

It's almost as if Bruno Mattei had plans of jumping on the Cannibal bandwagon all along, but fell asleep for 20 years, only to wake up and carry on, business as usual. Yeah. In 2004, Bruno Mattei made a genuine Cannibal movie. True story. He did lots of stuff in the 2000's, including several more Cannibal entries, along with a Zombie flick or two. The old guy obviously wasn't much for timing, but better late than never, some might say. Mattei... Continue »

Netflix recently added "Jason Goes to Hell". What image do they include for it? An image from "Jason X", of course. Same movie, right? Might as well be to the dimwits who pick and choose that stuff, and don't care for the genre enough to even make sure they even have the right movie. Continue »

I was just thinking about the name Bennell, in IotBS. It's a pretty uncommon surname. I have never met anyone with that name in my life, as far as I can recall. It makes me wonder if they were trying to make some kind of statement, by naming the character that.

It might be a reference to Luis Bunuel, the surrealist filmmaker...? That would make a certain amount of sense. Especially when you consider Mathew Bennell's broken car windshield in the 1978 film. He had to drive around for prac... Continue »

Anybody care about the 'Alien' franchise? It had a movie in the 70s, 80s, 90s[x2], two shitty spin-offs in the 2000s, and two more prequels in the 2010s. The Prometheus movies didn't do much for some people. Kind of hit or miss. I thought Prometheus was an interesting, albeit barely relevant backstory to the first Alien movie, but in a sense, that's what I liked about it. It featured the mechanics of an Alien movie, without the xenomorphs themselves. Alien Covenant had a few 'memberberry moments... Continue »

I threw it on for a quick laugh, and I was struck with a few parallels to Trailer Park Boys. Besides the protagonist being a low-life who drinks and smokes all the time, this 1998 comedy came out right before the black and white Trailer Park Boys debut in 1999.

First off is the shit-mobile. We'll gradually see the Dude's car turn into a pile of garbage, just like Ricky's.

Then, we have the Roadhouse connection. We have Jackie Treehorn (who treats objects like women, man) and Sam Ell... Continue »

Christmas usually dominates the month of December, but we still have a good week in there where we're recovering from Christmas, and moving into the new year. There aren't a lot of movies about this thin period where you can't really decorate or distinguish yourself from that generic Christmas and/or Holiday spirit.

I've only seen a few New Years horrors, and I barely remember anything about most of them. We have have Terror Train (1980), in which Jamie Lee Curtis resumes her role as t... Continue »

Hey everybody, what's up? Sorry, I have been out of the loop while many things are happening here. I am (still) visiting family, and they have all my time pre-scheduled for me. I'm just getting driven around between people's houses all the time, without enough downtime to do anything online. Sorry.

One of the things my family did was to volunteer together with an organization bringing meals, clothing, shoes, etc to homeless camps. Holy fuck you guys, those people have it rough. I was so... Continue »

Anybody watch this yet? Netflix released their Black Mirror choose your own adventure movie about a young programmer in 1984 who has to create a choice-based computer game, but naturally, he goes mad during the process.

When the time comes to make a decision, you have a timer in which things are streamlined, and in some scenarios, you'll die and have to start over from a previous point, but sometimes... you get different options when you go back, so I'm sure there are a lot of ways to... Continue »

Remember in 2013 when Stallone did his first legitimate team-up with Schwarzenegger? He plays Ray Breslin, security expert, who must escape from the craziest prison out there, and with the help from another legendary 80s action icon, he kicks everyone's ass and made for a fun, if somewhat forgettable action romp.

Years later, a DTV sequel snuck up on us, and what do you know? Stallone is actually in it again. Usually, they recast the main character for these sorts of under-qualified sequels,... Continue »
