How have I not seen this movie before? I first heard of it recently when I saw rifftrax was going to make fun of it, but I didn't want to hear their commentary. I wanted to see the movie in its pure unedited form.

This movie is kind of perfect. I got that vibe as soon as it started that it was made for me. It's got a shitty title card, awful effects of the meteorite or whatever crashing into earth, and then what happens? We get carried away in the diamond-farming plot of an asshole redneck. Thi... Like Blood Shack, this is another movie that features a character on the dvd cover art who isn't in the movie at all. They depict a wild-eyed psycho lady, but the killer in this movie is much more mild.

Damn, do I love the horror selection on Amazon Prime. This is a movie that's long been on my watchlist after having seen the Anchor Bay dvd advertised so regularly back in the day, but that misleading cover art made me a bit iffy. Frankly, the image of the woman trying to get through the door di... Continue »

A heads up if people don't know. Film AF is shutting down July 30th. So anyone who has there DVD/Blu-ray collections on there and needs to export it need to do so by then. Although not sure what exporting it and just turning it into a list on excel or word document will do as it kind if defeats the purpose of that site.

You might remember me rambling on recently about how 1989 was a year for undersea mayhem with The Abyss and Leviathan... Well, there's another one. Deepstar Six, directed by Sean Cunningham. You know, the director of Friday the 13th? Well, this one even has a score by Harry Manfredini!

I would have to say for sure that this is the weakest of the bunch. They set this in the "near future" even though there's nothing outlandish about it really. Some undersea exploration team is supposed to build a... Continue »

This is an Amicus horror mystery about a wealthy dude who collects a group of suspected werewolves into his secluded mansion so he can narrow down which one of them is the real deal.

When the movie begins, it narrates that it is a detective movie and prompts you to make your guess in this whodunnit. Towards the end, it gives a brief intermission to ask you to make your final guess, and I actually narrowed it down, but I didn't pinpoint who until it became blatantly obvious.

The cast is pretty... Continue »

I'm talking the first movies you were ever exposed to. What were they, and do you still think of them fondly today?

I was born in 1988, so that'll give you an idea of what movies were available in my youth. When I was young as fuck, it was in the age of VHS tapes. I fondly remember a few titles that I'll ramble on about.

One Christmas, my brother received a double feature of Terminator and Terminator 2. We watched the fuck out of those, and even though they were rated R, our parents didn't car... Continue »

A page refresh may be required. Now, this isn't anything innovative. I'm just copying Facebook here, where the 'Like' option is a bit more expansive. However, I've added a "Dislike" option to the rest of their defaults, because as it goes, there is a Like and Love, there should be a Dislike and Hate(Angry).

This isn't a culture where people can only express positive feelings. If you don't like something, you should feel free to express your disinterest.
There were many dependencies I had to cha... Continue »

I've heard mixed things about this Netflix original movie back when it came out, so I was hesitant to watch it. It's from a decent director Jim Mickle who did Stake Land (okay at best) and the gritty Cold in July which I thought was a cool movie. Why the hell did I pass up a movie starring Michael C. Hall? Was I retarded or something? You're damn right I was!

So this here is a movie I wont go into too much detail about because the twists are what make it a great experience. The story starts off... Continue »

Sea-ing how this month's challenge revolves around them, what are some of your recommendations? It didn't take me long to realize that I don't know many movies that fit this criteria, but I'm sure we can figure out a few. Include lake monster movies too, because those count.

My personal favorite is Humanoids from the Deep (1980), which is short and gives you plenty of kills. If you can count kills that weren't from the monsters, you'd have even more deaths. This movie is balls to the wa... Continue »

This is a great little story set in Texas about an insurance scam that you know right away wont end well. Just in like TCM4, McConaughey plays a fucking creep, and it does it wonderfully. Not that Vilmer and Joe are very similar, because Vilmer was an erratic mess, but Joe is calm and collected. Of course, he still goes off the deep end when someone pushes him, but he's very particular about his routines. Hell, he even threatens to wear someone's face. And then, like any chainsaw movie, there's... Continue »

Since America is in shambles right now, this movie seems like a more than appropriate viewing. As the opening titles roll, I was in awe at all the great names involved.

Kurt Russell - John Carpenter's go-to for a genuine bad-ass.
Donald Pleasence - An English man who somehow became president.

Isaac Hayes - The duke of New York, a number one!

Ernest Borgnine - Happy go lucky cabbie!
Harry Dean Stanton - Jog left!
Joe Unger - In scenes deleted!

I can count the amount of found footage movies that I think are truly good on 1 hand: Cannibal Holocaust, Trollhunter and since yesterday I can add finally a third.

Apparently shot in 1989 even though it feels it is even older. I have seen the year 1983 circulate as well. So it predates the first popular and widespread full found footage horror movie The Blair Witch Project by at least 10 years. It remains rather unclear to me why the director decided to release this immediately on video but af... Continue »

This is one of the main things I think about when the 4th of July rolls around:

youtube

We don't have much to celebrate this year. Everyone's locked up, our freedoms are being taken away by easily offended snowflakes, racism made an unwanted comeback, and everyone wants to destroy what America stands for.

Lately I have seen a movie in each of the above categories.

Rape-revenge:

Even lambs have teeth (2015)
Two young female students are going to work on a farm. However there is no farming to do as they are baisically used as prostitues being locked in a container. They manage to eventually get out and take revenge on all the people that are involved in the whole business. It's not very explicit but especially the revenge part is brutal. And it might actually be a much more believable approach t... Continue »

Any fans? What a strange movie. I think I liked it more this time around than my initial watch which was over 10 years ago. It's definitely a slow-burn with little payoff, unfortunately, but it does have a fairly charming quality to it.

Firstly, Roman Polanski's acting is something else. He's on par with Tommy Wiseau at times. Despite little of note happening, his acting "skills" and his heavy accent make it oddly watchable. Secondly, while its first and foremost a thriller, I think it's got a... Continue »

DON'T FUCKING WATCH IT!!! What the fuck gives you the right to take it away from all the people who aren't offended??! Your feelings are not more important than mine!

I'm offended by bullshit like American Idol, but it doesn't matter because I don't watch it. I would NEVER try to take it away from anybody else, because I am not a PIECE OF SHIT!!!

This is how Nazi Germany got started. Look at everyone resigning from their jobs and begging for forgiveness out of fear. These are very scary times... Continue »
