Season 4, episode 4. Dennis Hopper plays a neo-Nazi trying to find his voice in this surprisingly compelling episode. Rod Serling wrote this episode, and he had a tendency to be very outspoken on certain subjects. Hopper gives a great performance, and this is perhaps the youngest I've ever seen him.

If only more people TODAY would watch shit like this, we wouldn't have so much political fuckery these days. Twilight Zone gives us some great morality tales.

Just checking if this is happening for September? If no one is officially doing it I will just put my list here and anyone else can too.

So looks like we are just doing it here. For anyone who doesn't know you can watch anything Sci-fi or fantasy related and you just add up the minutes whether a movie or TV show.

Here's a slew of similarities between the two.

Both films are tech noirs that came out in 1984 within a couple weeks of each other and are set in Los Angeles. They feature rugged male protagonists from dystopian futures who go back in time from the month of July to stop a bizarre threat from altering the future. While in the past, they go to punk clubs and fall in love with women who will affect their own lineage and existence. In the end, neither of these men return to their respective futures... There was this noticeably generic slasher I saw on TV a long time ago called Bloody Murder. A while back, I was thinking about it. Mainly trying to remember what it was called, and whether I even liked it or not. Like I said, It had been a while. I just remembered watching some slasher (and its sequel) on TV back in the early 2000's, and for some reason, I got curious enough to try and seek it out. My search eventually led me to a movie on Youtu... Continue »

Tim Thomerson stars as Brick Bardo, a police officer from another planet who finds himself in a quarrel with his robotic head of a nemesis that flings the both of them to New York City. When he gets there, he quickly learns that like most Full Moon features, this one involves doll-sized characters... and he's the dollman!

New York City is a funny place. The Bronx here looks a lot like the gang lands in Los Angeles, doesn't it? And it doesn't help that so many of the gang members are latino, b... Continue »

Robert Forster plays an honest family man until some hoodlums molest his wife and blow his son's head off with a shotgun. Yikes!

What's even worse is that Forster is sent to prison for contempt in court after venting his frustrations to the judge who clearly doesn't give a shit so long as he's paid off. Obviously, something has to be done, and if not by the law, then it must be some good ol' fashioned street justice!

With the help of his buddy played by Fred Williamson, we're taken on a field... Continue »

Here's the updated thread for 2021! @bambi awesome job with reading last year!

I plan to read 10 chapters a day. Reading used to be a huge part of my life and I want to get back to it! So here's to 2021, and the year of discovering new books!

One day, I got bored and thought of designing my own custom DVD and VHS cases.

https://trashepics.com/app/home_media_case/

Now, they're not that good, but what I'm going for is consistency. Sometimes, even releases from the same company can be all over the place, and that's why I built these on somewhat of a template.

These are not solid images, but a mashup of images, fonts, and CSS. Either way, they theoretically can be printed and used as replacement sleeves or slip cas... Continue »

I would like some recommendations for the october challenge. There is a few subgenres I haven't dug in that deep yet. So I'm thinking in the direction of vampires and werewolves (preferably pre the Underworld era). Frankenstein like movies or other body horror flicks would be fine too.

Some of you may be aware of the Excel spreadsheet I've been keeping on October Horror Challenges. It has all the movies watched from IMDB from 2012-2016 and here from 2017 to present. Last two years I've also been including DVD Talk to give a larger sampling. Has all kinds of info: title, year, IMDB rating, length, MPAA rating, IMDB genre listing, plot synopsis. Also totals for each year, as well as spaces to track what films you have seen.
To the point, I'm looking for a better site to use as a... Continue »

Mark L. Lester directed both Class of 1984 (1982) and Class of 1999 (1990), but this one can stand on its own. In the crime dystopian future of gang violence in schools, Principal Malcolm McDowell joins forces with weird-eyed banana-eating government scientist Stacy Keach to test out these violent new teaching androids, played by Patrick Kilpatrick, Pam Grier, and John P. Ryan.

Bradley Gregg (puppet guy in Elm Street 3) plays our prison-paroled high school student battling rival gangs, junkies... Continue »

Now this is something that was started with the likes of "From Dusk Till Dawn" and the Buffy tv show, but I've always hated when a vampire goes into kill mode and its face changes into some wrinkly ugly monster face. It's FUCKING STUPID. That is all.

When flipping through channels on TV I caught a quiz. One of the candidates was apparently a huge Disney fan visiting Disneyland (in Paris) once a month. When the quizmaster asked him if there were Disney movies he didn't like, he replied there were a few he didn't like that much. When asked for an example, I would have expected him to say the (IMO) unwatchable Song of the South, but no. He mentioned 'The Black Cauldron'. Maybe not that surprising that he picked it, seems like die hard Disney fa... Continue »

There are movies about the general type of situation that is going on in Afghanistan right now. I can think of a few. Anyone have any more? Here are the ones that I have thought of so far.

Argo (2012) Iran goes crazy, people need to be rescued.
No Escape (2015) A fictional, unnamed country in southeast Asia goes crazy, people need to escape or be rescued.
The Year of Living Dangerously (1982) Indonesia goes crazy, people need to escape.
The Killing Fields (1984) Cambodia goes crazy, people n... Continue »

More swords and sorcery shit for you. Don't watch it because of David Carradine's unconvincing swordplay. Watch it because Maria Socas is topless throughout the whole damn thing. What a babe.

Also, there's a chick with 4 boobs.

I'm watching Casino and I really hate Sharon Stone's character in this. The epitome of a horrendous bitch! Sometimes, an actor can do such a good job at playing an unlikable character that you actually start to hate them in real life.

Who do YOU hate?

I just watched Deathstalker, which was kinda meh. I look forward to the sequel though since it's a Wynorski flick, but who knows about the later ones.

My favorite of this subgenre are Army of Darkness, Beastmaster, Conan 1 (and 2!?), and Monty Python's Holy Grail. I couldn't care less for Lord off the Rings though. That shit is boring to me.

What say ye, peasants?

This movie came and went in the theaters pretty quickly, so there wasn't much buzz on it. Eisenberg plays an awkward office nerd who gets beatdown by thugs one night and decides to better himself by taking a karate class.

I think Cobra Kai was making karate cool again, but this movie never seemed very cool by the looks of it, but then again, that's because Eisenberg himself is never supposed to play cool guys. I'm not very cool either, so I could sympathize with his pathetic tendencies to avoid... Continue »

Well, it's about that time again. Trash Epics' signature movie challenge is about to have a fifth go around. That means it's time to start preparing for an offensive, so bad, it's good, exploitation clusterfuck of a March. What are we into these days? Giallos? Cannibal epics? Shockumentaries? Sick, Japanese gorefests? You name it and it counts, because the Trash Challenge is back!

As always, it'll be one point for every trashy quality below.... Continue »

It's a great setting for slasher flicks, but a great setting for a comedy too. I haven't seen it utilized much in other genres.

I'm watching Ernest Goes to Camp and it's a great premise: Ernest wants to be a camp counselor. You know things are going to go wrong because he's a fuck up.

What are your favorite summer camp flicks?

I just watched a doc on Hulu about Nick from early inception to the 90s. Big trip down memory lane for me. I grew up in a great time for kids tv. Also, the creator lady of Blues Clues is pretty hot.
