As a horror fan, I love history. Lets face it, mankind has done some pretty brutal stuff. We have done everything from atrocities to holocausts in every nation and every time period. History is a blood bath, and as horrible as it is, I do find some of that stuff interesting. Call it morbid curiosity, but some of that stuff equally frightens me and intrigues me. One particular atrocity that I hadn't given much thought to was the mass hysteria surrounding witch trials. Between the 15th and 18th ce... Continue »

Nothing is more revealing about someone than a HS confession.
Post yours here.

I was a major loser my sophomore year.
I got a 19 on a World History mid-term. Yes, a nineteen.
Despite being average height and build, it took me over 11 minutes to run the mile.
Yes, over eleven.
I feel better not taking these harmless yet jaw-dropping secrets to my grave.
Praise be to Allah (per se).

The Finnish love metal band "HIM" have announced that they're calling it quits after 26 years. Not sure if many people know of this band, but they've always been one of my favorites.

When I was a teenager, I wanted to BE Ville Valo, and based my life around him. He is one sexy dude. Now, I'm not nearly as into the band as I once was, but they've always been pretty solid. Everything's gotta come to an end eventually...

The Sleepaway Camp franchise is an unusual one. Some might even say an unnecessary one. And I might tend to agree. The first installment is an otherwise mediocre slasher from the early 80's which flaunts a mind blowing ending. One of the scariest as well as shocking endings in Horror history, in my opinion. And an ending which permanently put this film on the map. Some years later, Two sequels were made. Two very different sequels taken in... Continue »

When writing about a movie, I usually like to start out by offering some sort of backgroud info, regardless of how loosely related it might be. But that's just not going to happen, this time. This time, I don't know shit. And sadly, I don't know how to know shit. That's because the movie I'm going to tell you about is that obscure. The term "obscure", when referring to film, is somewhat obsolete, these days. Since dvds poppe... Continue »

I Love pinky violence & girl boss films... i also like Pink films splitting at the seams with rope bondage, rape & torture... sprinkled with straight up misogyny to make the feminazis cry. Nothing makes me more happy than seeing a guy winched up and used as a fuck tool to go balls deep in his own sister....

That be... Continue »

For some twenty years, when I hear the Everglades mentioned, I automatically think of this one movie I rented as a teenager. Nothing mindblowing, or overly memorable about this movie, really, but I can't recall knowing jack shit about The Everglades before I saw it. Blood Stalkers, they call it. Less commonly known as The Night Daniel Died. A backwoods, would be-Slasher from the late 70's, which makes poor attempts at also being a Bi... Continue »

Since TE has this lists & recommendations section I might as well throw mine in here! These lists are updated fairly regular but are not in order of what I like best.

Obviously can't safely recommend all these films but I personally like them all.

image I have seen Jean Rollin's The Grapes of Death (or if you prefer the French title, Les raisins de la mort) twice now. The first time was in 2007 after I asked for some foreign zombie movie recommendations on IMDb. I remember this being one of the main movies recommended and being a fan of some of the other French horror movies I'd seen around the same time, I sought this one out promptly.

Well, to put it simply: I was disappointed.

I imagine the main thought in my mind at that time was: where the fuck are the zombies? By standard ideas of what counts as a zombie both back when this was made and now, the things in this movie are not what I would call zombies and quite frankly, I certainly wouldn't recommend it to someone looking for zombie movies, at least not without a warning.

image However, having forgotten most of what actually happens in the movie outside of the opening and the music that accompanies it, I recently decided to give it a second try, this time with more of an open mind, which admittedly, I probably lacked back in 2007. And with that open mind, I've realized that this has a lot more in common with The Crazies (original and remake) than any particular zombie movie. It's still not a movie I want to go out of my way to buy anytime soon, but do I still hate it?

So most people site the 90's as being a terrible decade for horror and being the worst. While certainly not the best I think it is very underrated when you get by all the Scream clones and style and really delve into the decade you find some real gems. I had a list on IMDb but when my account got deleted I lost the list. I made another one of films I like from the 90's but might be forgetting some. Obviously as with any list I am sure there are some that people will disagree with. If anyon... Continue »

I absolutely won't ruin anything with spoilers for people who haven't seen this movie.
But it's difently worth the watch if you like Distrubing Fucked up movies it has everything you want in a Distrubing movie.
I absolutely loved this movie and rated it 10/10
Just wondering from the people here who saw it how they felt about the film and if my rating is to high.

Again it's a great rec for those who haven't seen the movie.

With the IMDB boards gone, I have limited options to post and discuss this film so I thought Iโ€™d give it a try here.

I, Daniel Blake is Ken Loachโ€™s second Palm dโ€™Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival. I watched it at the local cinema recently and was quite affected by it. The premise is an older guy in Britain whoโ€™s been working as a carpenter for the best part of 40 years, has a heart attack and his doctor/specialist tells him heโ€™s not fit for work for at least 3 months. He goes... Continue »

Something reminded me of this show recently. When I just googled it, I was surprised to see that it aired on CBS... I would have guessed the USA Network. Anyway, does anyone else remember this show? I think I watched at least half a season, at some point. I always liked the intro. Also, check out the wikipedia article, apparently Bruce Abbott played the main role in the second season! I actually thought the guy in season one was pretty great, but... whatever, it's good if Bruce Abbott got... Continue »

I had been hearing quite a lot about this movie so I figured I'd give it a shot. This is probably the weirdest movie I've ever seen. I went from laughing hysterically to gagging in the span of 30 seconds. There are things in this movie that I never thought I'd see or actually never even crossed my mind. I will never eat a hotdog the same way again. Has anyone else seen this and if so, what were your thoughts? It's unique to say the least.

Revenge movies have been around for donkey's years (anyone know which was the very first one?), and of course it was always one of Shakespeare's favourite themes. But the new century has seen it's fair share of vengeance being served up very, very coldly.. And who doesn't enjoy seeing justice, rightly or wrongly, being dished out. In brutal fashion. Here is a list of the ten of the most brutal of retributions. And yes there will be obvious omissions no doubt, i.e. I was going to include Marty... Continue »

I saw a post by Ninjas from a while back on doing a Recs Challenge like the one the IMDb Horror Board had. Not sure if that ever got off the ground. Anywho, here is the list from that challenge if anyone is interested.

A perfect mash up of horror, sci-fi, action, this film is so fun & action packed. Itโ€™s a true 80โ€™s gem that demands a viewing. Roger Ebert described it as: โ€œA cross between Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Terminator,โ€ which is an accurate statement I think.

The filmโ€™s essentially a creative reworking of the buddy cop formula that was popular in the 80โ€™s. The premise is... Continue »

I think the story is a bit pointless, but it deserves a good slasher film. Any of the characters are not really memorable, or even the killer. It doesn't have a strong feeling like Valentine movie, but I enjoyed it on Valentine's Day. I loved the ending, it's creepy. I'd give it a 7.5/10 as a solid slasher film. I think The Prowler (1981) is much better and that one's excellent slasher film. I'm looking forward to the remake if I will like it more than the original.

So, what are your thoughts... Continue »

image John Wintergreen (Robert Blake; In Cold Blood, Lost Highway) is a short, by-the-book motorcycle cop patrolling Arizona's highways, with hopes of soon moving up from being a highway patrolman and becoming a homicide detective. He eventually gets a chance to prove himself too when he discovers a body in a house in the desert and ends up helping with the investigation, quickly finding himself involved in something much more complicated than a simple murder and finding out just how difficult investigating a homicide can be.

Released in 1973 and directed by James William Guercio, Electra Glide in Blue isn't considered an exploitation movie, but it has a lot of characteristics that you might associate with the exploitation genre, including drugs, hippies, and a motorcycle gang. Those characteristics combined with the desert, murder mystery theme make for an interesting movie, to say the least.

So sit back and (hopefully) enjoy another... Reviews with Ballz! Continue »

I've heard he's a nice enough guy, which isn't that unbelievable, I guess. And it's really nothing personal, but the longer Adam Sandler's film career goes on, the more I'm annoyed by this guy. And I know I'm not the only one. But why? Where did it all go wrong? It's not our fault. I used to like him like many others from my generation. I mean, he started out terrible with retarded shit like Bil... Continue »

There is an actor who has graced our screens since the 1950s, an actor whoโ€™s graced our screens both silver and small in over 100 appearances, whose unique appearance and acting style have given us memorable and screen stealing characters. Ever the chameleon, heโ€™s played parts of many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and in each one heโ€™s remained doggedly himself. Although heโ€™s played heroes on occasion, his manic demeanour, and rugged looks have often seen him typecast in villainous roles. His devotion to acting (and possibly $$$) have seen him pop up in a surprising number of terrible films, many of which he makes bearable, with his odd inflections of words, and hamtastic acting.

Of course we all know who Iโ€™m talking about. Itโ€™s obviously... Continue »

What are your thoughts on the western genre?

Some examples:
https://trashepics.com/media/?limit=25&tags=western&sort=value

I think it's a pretty good genre, though I haven't seen much from it. Mostly just the Clint Eastwood ones and a few others. Surprisingly, I've never seen a John Wayne movie either. I've noticed that horror fans tend to appreciate westerns quite a bit too. Continue »
