The Trash Challenge has been a blast, but it's cumming to an end. Let's get some B&W recs going, so we can jump right into the next challenge, huh?

I love the Universal Monster movies, and have seen most of the main ones. Anything with Karloff or Lugosi is good by default. I've seen a handful of other "essentials" like:

20s:
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Nosferatu, The Phantom of the Opera

30s:
White Zombie, Mystery of the Wax Museum, Freaks, King Kong, Dr. Jekyll and Mr.... Continue »

Is this any good? It's supposedly based on the Manson killings, before anyone realized who actually did the killings.

First off, I'll remind everyone that I work at a movie theater, so when new movies come out, I get to see them for free. No biggie, since I skip most movies anyway, since they're all shit. However, Disney, being the greedy fucks they are, doesn't allow us to see their movies for free. They still want theater employees to pay full price, because making a billion dollars on every movie they make just isn't enough already.

They wont let us see the damn Guardians of the Galaxy 2 until near... Continue »

When I told @shaza I'd never seen this movie, she insisted I make it a priority. I know Serbia isn't all like this, but then again, I don't want to trust any country where a movie like this is made... Continue »

and also starring MOLLY PARKER, who I love and I am sorry I couldn't stuff her name into the subject line.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118350/

This is a pretty interesting TV movie. I think it was really well done. A very large part of it is basically a one woman show, just Molly Parker talking to herself as she thinks her way through various life-threatening predicaments... so, if you don't like her, better skip this puppy. But, I like her, so I really enjoyed this.

She plays a... Continue »

Boring thread, I know, but I think it makes sense to make it today.

You don't have to say why if you don't feel like it.

Mine is Dawn of the Dead (1978) because it's very entertaining, it has great likeable characters, it has some of the most memorable zombies of all time, it has a lot of great gore and the music is awesome. Also it offers everything you could possibly want from a movie: horror obviously, suspense, action, drama, comedy and even romance. I could watch it everyday and never... Continue »

Sorry, that's Work In Progress, not Sharon Mitchell with a whip.

8x10, mechanical pencil, 15 hours in. I'm having to do repair work, my original attmempt at capturing the look of black leather made it look more like a pea coat. I can do about two to three hours at a time before getting an eye strain headache.

A lot of the old stories about werewolves, vampires, ghosts, etc, have some kind of supernatural element, obviously. Often, the way to fight the evil monsters lies in some kind of Christian symbol, like a cross, or maybe a pre-Christian symbol that has been co-opted by Christianity, like... OK, nothings coming to mind, but I'm sure we can think of a few kajillion examples.

Anyway, in modern times, there are plenty of horror movies and franchises that have moved away from explicitly Christi... Continue »

Me and my DerTables will be going on Saturday, May 6th.

Here's the guest list:

I definitely want to meet Argento, Henenlotter, maybe Claudio Simonetti (Goblin), Michael Berryman, Debi Sue Voorhees, Michael Pare, and Ted Raimi.

This movie was wack. It reminded me a little of Street Trash. I welcome any comments or opinions... because of shit going on in my personal life I'm having a hard time focusing, so I probably missed some of the goodness, but enjoyed what I absorbed.

This was probably my last view for the Trash Challenge... thanks for starting the challenge Troma! emoticon

I'm reviving this thread from the horror board. I suppose the main ingredients are the isolated setting (usually a cabin), and surviving the horde of undead or possessed people.

Night of the Demons (1988) https://trashepics.com/forum/724/
Things (1989) https://trashepics.com/forum/17/
Demon Wind (1990) https://trashepics.com/forum/2225/
Dead Snow (2009) https://trashepics.com/forum/1414/
Wither (2012) https://trashepics.com/forum/1322/

Less Blatant rip-offs, though heavily inspired by... Continue »

Are you guys old enough to remember some of this shit?

I have seen tons of Bad Horror/Exploitation/Sexploitaion/Women in Prison.

Is there a feminine equivalent to the "macho hell" subgenre of cinema? That is, films like Deliverance, Joe (!970), Southern Comfort, Wolf Lake, Shoot! or La Traque, where "tough" guys get in bad situations and turn them progressively, violently worse through constitutional inability to just back down or be reasonable.

I'm not terribly open-minded when it comes to music. I tend to stay within a range of decades I know and trust, and while it can encompass a lot in itself, I tend to stick with classic rock.

I guess I'm not so into music of these days because I don't have the ear for it yet. I'm kind of primitive when it comes to trends and stuff. I only get to this stuff about ten years down the line, when nobody cares about it anymore. I think a lot of my dislike is how overproduced some of it can get. You... Continue »

Discuss the latest King Kong movie.

I just had to make a thread to post this glorious hand drawn poster art for it. Something that is absent from modern day movies.

This new horror/scifi film is about people who discovers a new life from on Mars as life tells the story.

I think it's so good, but my main problem is that characters didn't show their real feelings (just a bit), they were so cold when someone dies. Not afraid or nervous.

I didn't find any characters really memorable except Jake Gyllenhaal's character, I thought he was good as always.

The idea for horror story is cool, and the ending... Continue »

We know @Tromafreak writes movie reviews. We know @zed writes songs. We know @ninjas writes perverted awesome rants. I know @cyborg wrote a pilot for amazon studios (that I hope he'll elaborate on). The estranged @ballz writes short stories and is working on a novel (he's not around, but I do keep in contact with him). Do you write anything? Elaborate on your writing ambitions. Continue »

Everyone turns to stupid apps these days, but websites can do most anything. I guess with apps, it's all pretty much laid out, whereas websites have different browsers and whatnot that can affect functionality, ie obsolete/deprecated features.

Blah blah. I think the internet can be a great resource for ANYTHING. I never went to college because I have the internet at my hands. I have no need to let those brainwashing establishments turn ME into a liberal idiot. I can just go online and search... Continue »

Back in the late 80's and 90's, when I used to browse the video rental stores, I mainly kept my choices within the Horror genre. And almost always picked weird B-movies and obscure cult classics. But occasionally, I would come across something not of the Horror genre, while still trashy, weird and low-budget. Stuff like Eating Raoul, Pink Flamingos, and The Doom Generation. There's one I came across early on that we don't really... Continue »

Rape is bad. It's very bad. I would not wish it on my worst enemy. But I'll gladly wish it upon hundreds of fictional characters, because why the hell not, they're not real, and they're not me, so what's the harm?
Now you might think I'm a tad odd, but chances are, if you clicked on this thread, you're just like me, and would also secretly enjoy watching random chicks being rammed for no good reason whatsoever. Just like you enjoy watching fictional peeps being gutted and decapitated all damn... Continue »
