I'm the kind of guy who likes ripping stuff off, because the more you do it, the more random little shit you'll learn about how it works and how you can benefit from it. So I've been working on a wikipedia skin.

It ain't the best thing in the world, but it's somewhat functional and it encompasses a good chunk of this site's database, including: media, people, users, links, pages, and disambiguations.

Example pages:

Well I have been on a Slasher Marathon lately. It's rather silly since it's not really a favorite subgenre for me but I tried out usenet for a month half a year ago (I forgot to unsubscribe in time) and I didn't know what I could download at the time so I went for the slashers found in the grindhouse database.

I have been viewing them more or less chronologically. I'm noticing a few things. Contrary to popular belief gore & blood seem to be the exception rather than the rule, many kills not... Continue »

Hey Guys, I know we are only a week into the awesomeness of the Turkey Challnege, but I wanted to let y'all know about nexts months challenges, and the rules!

To start off, the challnege will begin at midnight on December first, and will end at the stroke of midnight on New Years Day!

Basically the point of this challenge is to watch as many 80s movies as you can, and have fun!

You get 1 point for watching an 80s movie.

1 point if the movie is a sequel made in the 80s... Continue »

Has anyone ever taken the test to find out about your Jung Typology? I just did, and it was eerily accurate. I used to really be into psychology, so taking the quiz was pretty fun. Usually I don't care about personality tests, but this one seems pretty true!

I am an INFJ. I'm curious to see what other people's types are!

Here is the site.

Sucks that the Documentary Challenge didn't happen this month. It's one I'm really looking forward to. Maybe I should've volunteered when @Messiah inquired about a host at the end of last month (I think that happened anyway, can't find it now).

I am however volunteering to host a week long challenge this month, if enough people are interested. I think it'd be best to start on a Sunday, so it'd have to either be this coming Sunday (13th) or the Sunday after that (20th).

To anyone interested... Continue »

It's hard to give my thoughts on this movie without spoiling anything, because this is one of those movies with important plot points. However, the trailer does give a lot of them away, or at least infer them, so there's not much to spoil. If you've watched the trailer, you can basically guess the exact plot progression of the movie because trailers these days are awfully in depth. They leave nothing to the imagination, and this movie is no exception.

For what it's worth, the movie entertained... Continue »

I'm asking this question after I read a post of one of my facebook 'friends'. Well I have traded action figures with the guy a few times but I keep our relationship rather superficial.

He posted a list of MTV awards from 1994 and put the awards from this year next to it with the message "The world is coming to and end". Pretty clearly he isn't too happy about today's music. He's from 1980 so he was 14 years old and I guess at almost 40 they are still his heroes. Some of the names are: Aerosmith... Continue »

I am watching this for the billionth time right now, and thinking about his drifter/yuppie character.

What do you think about his scenes toward the beginning, at the worker's camp? He sits there watching TV, and talks about different conspiracy theories to explain the world. It's hard to know exactly what to make of this, considering what we know by the end of the movie.

Is he spreading disinformation? Maybe trying to lay a trap for possible malcontents, seeing if he can get them to r... Continue »

Horror movies that have been released 2017-2019. I haven't seen any from 2019 yet so it will just be 2017 & 2018 from me

2017
Trauma: 7,5/10 (torture/revenge tends to either be too tame, uneventful or go over the top, this one has a great balance, with godo gore and yeah nudity which is becoming rare this days but Chile is thankfully not scrutinized by the censors)

Primal Rage: apparently forgot to rate it must be around 5/10 (no brain slasher and gore)

Errementari: 8/10 (I like fantasy a... Continue »

Emanuelle is a recurring character in several Italian sexploitation films. I've only seen one of these movies before, and that was Women's Prison Massacre, which was to be the end of the Emanuelle series, and I didn't even know it was a thing at the time.

Basically, Emanuelle is a gorgeous slutty reporter played by Laura Gemser, and the first half of this movie is basically a soft-core porno. After a nurse gets her nipple bitten off by a cannibal patient, Emanuelle questions her whilst finger... Continue »

When I watched this, my first thought was "What the hell is going on here?" After about ten minutes, I decided I was just going to believe what they are showing me. It's all true.
And it actually turned out to be not that bad, really. I still only gave it a 4, but that's at least two points better than I would have.

Do you ever wonder coming across an old horror movie which looks like original for the its time but you'll find out is is generally unknown? A movie that predates the better known classics by some years. usually they are obscure as they didn't really got much advertising or they got a limited release in theatre (perhaps not screening at all in the mainstream ones).

The ones that spring to mind:

Spider Baby (1967): Well it is said the filming started in 1964 which probably explains why it is... Continue »

Granted, I was pretty drunk when I was watching this, but it got me right from the beginning. While it was made in 1998, it looks like it was made in the 70s. Very stylistically influenced by John Waters, what with the LGBT prominent trash themes.

This movie is mostly just stupid dialogue between a dull girl striving to be a bigshot in a pageant and some gay dude who started the movie as some actor playing Jesus. They'll just ramble on about how to be successful for about an hour until they go... Continue »

Does anybody here think maybe the baker/confectionery guy at the beginning of Demons 2 might really have been intended to be a demon, for the movie? I don't think we ever see his face, but right at the beginning there is a scene with what appears to be blood dripping, and a sharp knife... it gets the audience all freaked out, but then it just turns out to be a guy preparing a cake. So, the audience laughs at itself, and says "Chuckle chuckle chuckle, ohhhhh what a silly audience we are, for g... Continue »

The original Halloween is cemented in horror history as a classic slasher film. An "immortal classic" if you will... Nothing can top it, and even part 2 is a solid follow-up, albeit ignored in modern continuity. But that anthology idea took things to a new direction... Halloween could have been a totally different series if Season of the Witch took off in the way that the creators intended.

I remember when I was a kid and I saw VHS copies of Halloween 3, and I absolutely did NOT understand how... Continue »

So with the 31st fastly approaching, I thought it was apt to look back on some of my most enjoyable FTVs of the month.

I am pleased with the turnout for this years challenge, and the overall upsurge of activity recently..

I will briefly list a few of the best views I have seen for this years challenge:

Ju-on (2000): the first installment in the Ju-on franchise, following two short films. With a runtime of 70 mins, it is super creepy. This is a film of slowly building dread and unease more th... Continue »

There seems to be a lot of them, old and new, and it's hard to tell one from another without having seen them because the titles are all so similar and they have mostly unknown actors in them.

I've only seen one of them and I can't recall the exact title. It's the one with Dee Wallace in it, and it wasn't great.

Are any of the others worth seeing?

Dan Curtis always had a thing for haunted houses, didn't he? After milking the horrors of Collinwood for about 5 years, he wasn't quite done with the subgenre yet, opting to turn this novel into a feature film. Funny enough, trivia says that he read the book years before getting the offer to direct, and thought that it was less than ideal for a screenplay. Fortunately for us, he put his magic touch on it and turned it into one of the best haunted house movies of all time.

The story is about a f... Continue »

I've made it a quest in my life to watch as many 1981 slashers as I can, because this was the pinnacle year for the slasher subgenre. Somehow, most of them end up being pretty decent because the genre wasn't fatigued yet. Filmmakers were enthusiastic about it still, and they had a few good ideas up their sleeves. Most importantly, they still took themselves seriously, and camp value didn't destroy the integrity of slasher movies yet.

When they made slashers back in the day, it all about finding... Continue »

The Girl who Knew too Much
Blood and Black Lace
Kill Baby Kill
A Bay of Blood
Baron Blood

The concept of a funeral home killing people to keep the business going is a good one, but it's only happened a few times. The most notable movie I can think of is The Comedy of Terrors, with Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, and Basil Rathbone. That one is pretty good from the cast alone, but we're not here to talk about that movie. We're here to talk about Maniac. Maniac 2? Maniac 2.5? The Undertaker.

Joe Spinell was in some awesome movies. Check his filmography... Continue »
