Anybody seen this one yet? It's a visual feast based on an HP Lovecraft short story in which a meteorite crashes onto a family's New England property and some weird shit happens.

The movie is engaging and well made. You've got Rage Cage, Tommy Chong, and some serious The Thing vibes. This movie scared the ever-loving hell out of me when I was a kid. In many ways, I consider it the definitive haunted house movie, right up there with Burnt Offerings. I know for some odd reason, it's not as appreciated as it ought to be, but I've always liked this movie even years after being traumatized by it as a kid.

The thing about this movie is that it's a lot like The Thing. Or rather, it's a lot like The Thing from Another World's thing, which wasn't a shapeshifting bastard, but a singular weird looking fuck that wanders around bothering a camp of scientists.

I wont get into a big rant because I'm not a super nerd, but goddamn... this movie was so much better than the last one. I was actually very satisfied with how this one played out. I liked the arcs, the twists, the callbacks, all of it.

Now with that said, I hope they don't fuck it up by adding more to this series. I know they want to do spin-offs, which I'm sure is inevitable, but leave this part of the series alone, considering most of the core cast is killed off or dead.

I watched this last night. It was nothing special, just your typical run-of-the-mill horror movie. It was better than the original, but that's not saying much, as that one was garbage.
