An embalmer is a person who temporarily preserves and beautifies a corpse so that it may be ready for a funeral procession. It is a job I don't think I could ever handle. Despite my love for extreme horror, I am very aware of the differences between what is real and what is fake. I can watch a brutal horror movie without batting an eyelid, but watching a read dead corpse unsettles me. Apart from the natural squeamish reaction to the autopsies and the handling of a dead body, I think I would be overcome with sadness to see what's left of a person with no life left in them. I can't afford anything. I have no outstanding debts to anyone, I don't have a car, insurance, medical coverage, school bills, nothing. I only buy the cheapest foods, and the cheapest toiletries. I work as many hours as I can during the week, usually 30 to 40 if I'm lucky. I never buy anything for myself anymore. I can barely afford rent.

I made it out of my pee.
It is cardamom and pear mead. The flavor has been enriched by local honey produced by bees who pollinate a pasture of crimson clover. Its floral notes of lavendar and lily are tempered by a leathery base with an aroma of walnut. My partner and I aged it for a year and a half and feel ready to share it. We haven't filtered its dregs (rather, we've stirred them daily), nor did we strain its ingredients. We have, however, scraped the layer of mold from atop it.
