I've always wanted to know about the madness that went into making Ren & Stimpy, and that doc was plenty informative. They want to paint creator John K. as a monster, how he was a dictator, but I feel like the end justifies the means. His batshit "storytelling" helped pave the way for better cartoons, but it definitely seemed to alienate him. It also delves into his scandal, though they never mention any specific sexual misconduct. John K does seem like a weird guy, but in that perfectionist-artist type way. At least the doc wasn't completely biased against him, and did feature his take on things quite a bit. I wouldn't hold out hope that any of that team would ever reunite, but it doesn't taint the wish that he would still come back and do more episodes like they announced a few years ago. If you loved that show as much as I did, it's definitely worth a watch.

It's not something I've watched in close to 30 years, but watching this doc made me remember how much I used to enjoy watching it on saturday nights after Are You Afraid Of The Dark. I remember loving it early on, but wasn't there a point where it became noticeably less funny? Maybe I just got older and started liking other shit, but I could have sworn I remember a change in tone after the second or third season. Would make sense considering they got rid of the creator.

Yeah, that's what I thought. They sure didn't go into that at all in the Doc. They were just all like "yeah, we did ok without him... so anyway, this dude's into 14 year olds". emoticon
